“A recent report reveals the world’s nearly 3,000 billionaires increased their wealth by $5 trillion last year....Which prompts Mark Whitaker to ask: When is more than enough, enough?,” host Jane Pauley announced at the top of the segment. Whitaker went on to warn viewers: “The wealth gap has reached stratospheric levels. The richest one percent of Americans now has almost 13 times the wealth of the bottom 50 percent. It’s led some to consider: Maybe you can be too rich.”
He turned to a far-left, European philosophy professor to explain her socialist ideology of seizing wealth by giving it a new name: “Professor Ingrid Robeyns teaches philosophy and ethics at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. She’s been promoting a concept called limitarianism. Define limitarianism.”
Robeyns lectured: “So limitarianism is just the word for the thought that there should be a moral limit to how much wealth you can accumulate. So it’s the idea that it’s fine to be well off, but at some point one has too much.”
After noting that she was “talking mainly about the really rich,” Whitaker wailed: “Robeyns believes the case against the super rich isn’t just moral; it’s also environmental. From the profits of businesses that haven’t paid for polluting the atmosphere to the emissions from mega mansions and private planes, and the unused dollars just sitting in offshore accounts.”
The radical professor argued private fortunes should be confiscated to combat climate change:

“None of those have-nots are deprived by the haves”
When 70,000 factories were shut down and shipped to China by the elites via globalism and we lost millions of manufacturing jobs that made the situation between the haves and have nots worse.
The fact is wages have been stagnat since the late 70’s for blue collar America.
Take off your rose colored glasses.
I’m sorry you’re not a fan of capitalism but creative destruction is a feature, not a bug. My grandfather raised carriage ponies, Henry Ford put him out of business.
Life has very few guarantees, none of them pleasant.
“I’m sorry you’re not a fan of capitalism “
Ha ha my wife and I own 3 companies. Our fixed cost run $100k each and every month (payroll, utlities etc)
I know all about capitalism and meeting payroll and making a profit.
What we have right now is not capitalism but turning into autocratic oligarchs running everything.
If we had capitalism the mom and pop stores would have been allowed to stay open just like the Wal Marts and Targets during the shutdown of 2020
So, you accept creative destruction as a key feature of capitalism?
Yes, your relatives horse business was replaced by a improved method of transportation. Carriage makers turned to making automobiles. Horse dealers turned into car dealers or taxi cabs or such or found highly paid work in the factories.
Tell me how the govt shutting down mom and pops while allowing the large box stores to remain open is capitalism. It’s not.
In the 20th century the gov’t broke up Rockefellers Sun Oil and Ma Bell because they got too big and was stifling competition..heck there was no competition at all with the phone company you had one choice. That is not capitalism.
The billionaires today(not all) need broken up...and not paying any or very little tax while my wife and I get f**ked every year is just not right.
No one should be able to contribute to any candidate that does not directly represent them.
100$ max ....
Then perhaps ideas would become a valuable commodity once again.
Yes it was. The ultra rich simply shielded their incomes. When the Kennedy administration reduced the tax rates the government actually took in more revenue.
how would you suggest we do so?
CUT THE SPENDING - DRASTICALLY. For a very slight start do what was done in the 90's when the Republicans forced Clinton to cap welfare by cutting off people who didn't look for work. Cut the allowance for dependent chillin. DON'T pay illegal immigrants a single solitary penny. Freeze federal government employee salaries for the next 5 years. Fire everyone in the ATF. etc.
