The Virginia Mathematics Pathways Initiative (VMPI), an equity-focused educational program that would have eliminated all accelerated math courses before 11th grade, is no longer.
The initiative was removed from the Virginia Department of Education's website after newly inaugurated Gov. Glenn Youngkin on Jan. 15 issued Executive Order 1 to, among other things, "restore excellence in education by ending the use of divisive concepts, including Critical Race Theory, in public education."

They’ll be hard pressed to get a parent like me to return our kids to the public schools.
Focus on education reform, vouchers, public safety (actual DA's and prosecutors), economy (inflation), border security and you will win big.
“The Virginia Mathematics Pathways Initiative (VMPI), an equity-focused educational program”
It is impossible to focus on both equity and on education; the more equity is present, the less education there will be. Particularly in math, which “is racist”.

Translation: being smart is racist
The Democrat party is the evil party.
I’m seeing this as a model for the midterms on the local level.
We need to move power back from fed to state, and state to local.
We don’t wait for them to give it to us. We take it back.
Youngkin has been swift, decisive and has been making good on his campaign promises. Unusual for a Republican officeholder -they usually run for cover from the critical press with their jackets over their heads, do nothing about their promises, and are materially not much different from their Dem opponents.
Already the schools are ignoring Youngkin on the masks.
His answer is to obey the school and he will work it out because the kids need school. Ugh.
I do hope he puts teeth into what he does. He is fighting people who already are telling him to GTH. He will have to be a fighter and the people are going to have to stay on his back.
Lipspeak is just that.
IOW, dumb down to the lowest common denominator.
Youngling is quickly becoming an American hero.
Where the hell were these “pathways” going if they were removing accelerated courses?
Hurry up and stand still?
YOUNGKIN!!!
A very good start...
Now we just have to wait until we see the response from the communists who operate the indoctrination centers...
Will probably be the same FU response he got for his “no mask mandate” order...
Youngkin just keeps getting better and better.
Virginia just escaped a horrible fate from the Democrats.
“The Virginia Mathematics Pathways Initiative”
As a trivia point, the term ‘Pathways’ in the UK means death chamber. Some city over there was sending old people to their ‘Pathways’ to die, similar to Logan’s Run. I think it was stopped (or at least driven further underground) after the Daily Mail got wind of it.
Accelerated math courses, and the related Honors courses, are white privileges.

Right. In general, you can have quality or you can have equity. You cannot have both. And that goes for everything. Sports, education, barbering, whatever.
In the public high school where I taught we had honors classes, and we had mainstream classes. So if you were good in math, you’d take Honors Algebra. Otherwise you’d take Mainstream Algebra.
It was a good system. But wait. There was no racial balance in the honors program. So the district changed things. No more different course levels. So now you’ve got the honors math students in the same algebra class as the kids who aren’t good at math at all.
The teachers are forced to slow down to avoid failing half the class. It’s a sad mess. But at least the PC folks are happy.
The model for the midterms is poll watching. Youngkin won because the number of Republican and conservative poll watchers was through the roof. The cheaters felt a little shy in front of all the witnesses.
I intend to be a poll watcher in the midterms and am going to ask for the more difficult postings. I am old, retired, saved and unafraid. Don’t really care what the Democrats and their supporters might try to do.
K-12 should go back to “tracking” where they segregate classes/students based on performance. This allows fast learners to progress faster and stay attentive and slower students don’t get left behind on the basics. Also, expand education in high school for students who may want to study the trades and aren’t interested in college.
