BERLIN (Reuters) – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz turned down an invite at short notice from U.S. President Joe Biden to discuss the Ukraine crisis, German magazine Der Spiegel said on Friday.

Scholz did not accept the invitation due to a full schedule, including a trip to Madrid, as well as the desire to show that he was present as Germany grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Der Spiegel.

A government spokesman declined to comment on the report.

Both sides hoped now to organize a meeting by mid-February.

Yes, the German PM has a sock drawer that needs sorting.

Another Biden foreign policy failure.

Biden is weak and trying to project gravitas via foreign policy. The German PM doesn’t want to be his tool.

Yeah, the chancellor is going to travel 3000 miles to talk with a teleprompter dummy.

Germany siding with the US. They possibly believe US will leave them hanging.

Leading to a possible conflict with Russia on their doorstep. Or Russia simply turning off their gas line in the middle of winter.

After Afghanistan, why would anybody trust us/ Biden?

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is a Marxist since his college days, when the communist East German Government invited him to visit as a leader of an anti-NATO, pro disarmament student group. He was likely an asset of the KGB back in those days.

His election was a major green light for Putin to invade the Ukraine. Their boy Olaf will not lift a finger to stop Vlad.

If Putin captures the gas pipelines through the Ukraine, he will strengthen his growing ability to choke off the Europeans energy supplies at will. This year, Germany will become a net importer of electricity, for the first time since the post WWII reconstruction, as they shut down the last of their nuclear power plants, and continue to shut down coal plants.

Every Winter, Putin will be able to extract some more concessions by holding gas supplies hostage, as he has been fond of doing with the former Republics of the USSR.

Aye and they’ve been busy cutting off their nose to spite their face- shutting down everything but green energy. It’s odd but whatever reason that movie Boxing Helena comes to mind.

This global warming thing is all so bizarre. It only benefits the filthy rich, soon the world will be their oyster and average Joes will be like dogs in the pound.

Sad too because I admire the rich but I don’t admire those who pull up the ladder once they’re on the boat.

Germany is quietly giving the middle finger to Blinken and Biden.

Note that just a few days ago, Germany sent its FM Annalena Baerbock, to Russia to meet with Russian FM Lavrov, and they issued several joint statements about Nordstream 2, and need for Russian gas, Ukraine and the “Minsk agreement,” and platitudes about peace and stability in E. Europe.

The puppet Biden, acting on behalf of DC neocons, is again going to find himself looking like a fool.

Three times is one to many.

Germany does not want a third eastern front, and needs Russia for energy.

For any FReepers with friends or family in the region. Get out. Go west. Like France or Spain.

“Every Winter, Putin will be able to extract some more concessions by holding gas supplies hostage, as he has been fond of doing with the former Republics of the USSR.”

Yes. Correct. Don’t we do the same with our so-called partners??

It is called the “golden rule.” That is, he who has the gold makes the rules. In this case, gas. In our case, it is the so-called protection we provide to these countries (Japan, Australia, NATO). We offer it but just don’t expect us to act unless we decide on our own (Vietnam, Iraq, Afgqnastain, etc.) and even then we may make a half-ass effort and then run out of town like a beat dog.

Poking this bear may turn out to be a very bad decision.

So Biden got the old Stacy Abrams “my schedule is too full to see you now” treatment.

“Biden is weak and trying to project gravitas via foreign policy. The German PM doesn’t want to be his tool.”

Simply put, why should ANYONE TRUST THE CURRENT AMERICAN ADMINISTRATION AFTER AFGHANISTAN, AND ALSO THE FACT THAT WE LEFT AMERICANS STRANDED IN AFGHANISTAN.
