Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) has only been in office for a few days but he and his administration have already gotten down to the business of trying to fulfill campaign promises to voters, starting by working to clean up the messes Gov. Ralph Northam (D) left, which is causing hurt feelings and an increase in demands for truckloads of smelling salts among Democrat/media elitists in the state who prefer the “business as usual” way of doing things.
One area where there has been predictable friction between Youngkin and his critics on the left and in the media is on the issue of parental rights. If you’ll recall, Youngkin made that a central part of his gubernatorial campaign last year, especially after Democrat nominee Terry McAuliffe admitted during a debate that “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”
Polls heading into Election Day showed massive swings from McAuliffe to Youngkin among those concerned about public education – with education even ranking ahead of the economy and the pandemic among voters, and ultimately it’s what ended up dooming the McAuliffe campaign.
So naturally, that’s going to be a big area of focus for Youngkin. And predictably, his anti-woke agenda on the education front and masks in schools is causing meltdowns in the media on both the straight news and opinion sides. The below piece published by the Washington Post is Exhibit A on this front:
What a headline …

While in fairness that was an opinion column and not a straight news piece, that’s been the general tone and tenor of the media since Youngkin was sworn in. Not surprisingly, they take the view of Democrats when it comes to wanting to leave parents out of the decision-making process when it comes to public school curriculums and students wearing masks.
In monitoring coverage of Youngkin by the Virginia press corps as well as reporters from national news outlets, it has become increasingly clear that Youngkin is being treated as their next DeSantis – and that’s not really a bad thing, in my view.
The constant attacks on DeSantis by the press and his expert way of handling their attempted dunks have only further endeared him to Florida residents. And while I know Virginia and Florida are different states politically, DeSantis has been able to redden the state by governing based on his instincts and just being a straight shooter rather than readjusting his agenda after every fake media “scandal” thrown at him.
While Youngkin and DeSantis are not the same from a stylistic point, Youngkin has also shown good skill when it comes to handling the press. Except in Youngkin’s case, he gained in popularity in the state last year not by playing hardball with the press but by, for the most part, ignoring their attacks and taking his case directly to the people.
Neither approach is better or worse than the other, but the proof is in the pudding. DeSantis’s has worked for him so far, and Youngkin’s helped win him an election, with the commonality being that neither trust the media. Further, both are likely aware that most people in this country don’t, either. So they respond accordingly by not coddling the press and not trying to get on their “good” side.
Will Youngkin be like DeSantis in being able to help pull his state to the right over his time in office? Only time will tell. But one thing is for certain: When you’re a GOP governor and you’re being given the Ron DeSantis treatment by the MSM, you know you’re doing something right.
Flashback: Virginia Democrat Group’s Yearbook Attack on Gov.-Elect Glenn Youngkin Goes Down in Flames
had people going absolutely ballistic in denial when I told them Virginia could be won
now look
you can’t win unless you play to win... giving up in despair is a 100% loss strategy
He’s “failing Virginia’s kids” by not forcing them to be muzzled?
Yep, sounds like a win to me.
watch this guy in the future...hes a very likable candidate....the left is going after him hard...they know.
What a filth of a “reporter”.
VA gave me hope. Our side actively engaging in Poll watching, Ballot box camping, and laywer’d up. Gave the D’s no chance at fraud.
In a related article this was written: Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) is redefining the Northam-era Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
I'd prefer he do away with this whole office. However he appointed Angela Sailor as director. She certainly says a lot of the right things BUT take a look at this picture below. It certainly gives me pause and should you too if you know who all these people are. She is surrounded by clowns. If she aligns herself with the two on either end in particular, she is one of those who says one thing but in realty does something else and is not to be trusted. Time will tell

As a lawyer who was in the middle of this, I'll pass along these thoughts:
1. VA should give you hope;
2. We did great with poll watchers, but needed FAR more, especially in precincts and counties largely infested by Democrats;
3. We need more people willing to serve on electoral boards, especially in counties largely infested by Democrats. In VA, each electoral board is supposed to contain at least one member of each party. In many Democrat jurisdictions we can't find any Republicans to serve, so the Democrats run rampant.
4. The Democrats had plenty of chances at fraud in VA because the previous Democrat legislature enacted election laws making it very easy to cheat. I suspect Youngkin was actually up by five or six percent. The Democrats simply couldn't cheat their way out of that much of a deficit.
The takeaways are (i) there is reason for hope; (ii) in states where we can, we must tighten up the election laws; and (iii) EVERYONE on our side needs to get involved to fight this war. It is not enough to simply complain (I'm not accusing you of that.). It's a real inconvenience and potentially a lot of work to serve as a poll watcher (especially now that many states have weeks-long in-person voting) or an election official, but we must find more people on our side to do it.
Dittoes - he is very likable - and humble. A class act.
Ding Ding Ding....
We have a winner!!!!
You win the internet today!!!
It is so simple to put an end to this that even a caveman can do it.
1) Find out when your local primaries are being held.
2) Take a vacation day on that day. Do not schedule your yearly summer vacation during that week.
3) Primary every republiCAN’T with an I (incumbent) next to their name.
After this is done, then:
1) Park your car either in the front or back doors of the polling place, with your trusty phone and watch.
2) If you are allowed as a citizen to sit in the polling place and watch, do so.
3) When the polls close, and the precincts are done, watch the front and back doors of the counting place. Record everything.
4) If you are allowed as a citizen to sit in the counting place and watch, do so.
So simple, and only requires (1) day of commitment.
If people want to get involved, the hard work, i.e., research, has been done for them already:
If you’re taking flack from the wapo, you’re over the leftist scum target.
I don’t expect Youngkin to become a conservative icon, but if he steers Virginia 20 degrees away from the Satanic leftist road it’s on, that will be better than having had the leftist demokkkrat hack mcauliffe back in office.
All Gov Youngkin needs to do is be sure everyone in Virginia is cleaning the electoral precincts...and that mechanisms are in place to keep them clean.the rest will eventually right itself
Getting rid of the gross fraud in Fairfax and Loudon counties will do the Old Dominion right in the long term
Simply advise the districts that they will be fully exposed to the parents with minimal state backup.
I had to look at this again to let it sink in again what a POS this author and democraps who agree with this are.
If you recall that incident in Fairfax/Arlington on the night of the election where there was an attempt by dims to rerun a drive of votes and was stopped by Republicans on watch. dims claimed it was a honest mistake after being caught, and by then dims realized that even running an xtra 20k votes two times would not even cover the difference. And I know someone involved in stopping that cheating, so this is not just conjecture.
I remember it well.
His entire governorship will be defined by the speed and process by which he stamps out the open communist revolt in northern VA and Richmond...
If he doesn’t, it will be just a case of GOP MOTS...
