Vanity: "Woke" New Orleans District Attorney Refuses to Prosecute Half of Felony Crimes
Vanity ^

Posted on 01/19/2022 8:23:05 AM PST by TigerClaws

Violent felony crime increased precipitously in New Orleans over the last 18 months.

The New Orleans Police Department’s response to the surging violent crime rate has been to prioritize investigations and arrests of violent felony offenders.

The NOPD secured the cooperation of victims and witnesses to make 1,411 violent felony arrests from January 11, 2021 to September 10, 2021. Conversely, the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office either refused or dismissed a total of 937 violent felony cases during that time.

The prior administration accepted 67% of violent felony arrests for prosecution in 2019 and 75% in 2020. Under D.A. Williams, the acceptance rate for violent felonies fell to 54%.

Dismissed violent felony cases (i.e., cases thrown out of court without suspects being held accountable) surged from 16%-17% of cases under the prior administration to 54% under D.A. Williams. All categories of violent felony crimes saw dramatic increases in dismissals under D.A. Williams including murder, attempted murder, and robbery . The rates of violent felonies resolved through felony conviction fell to 21% under D.A. Williams. The dramatic downturn in successful violent felony prosecutions is not due to deficiencies with the investigative abilities of the NOPD as evidenced by the 57% felony conviction rate in 2019 and a 52% conviction rate in 2020 under the prior administration.

And, of course, crime is out of control in yet another Democrat-run city.

All cities with radical DAs are going to be as deserted as Detroit if they continue down this path, it’s just a matter of time.

Soros and his DAs constitute a criminal conspiracy. Too bad there’s no actual law enforcement any more.

As was pointed out by another freeper yesterday, every convicted felon is one fewer vote for the communists.

Good luck!

Some lowlife tackled my 78-year-old, cane-using father on Saint Charles Avenue in New Orleans in the middle of a weekday almost two years ago. He was after my dad’s wallet. He had asked Dad for a handout, been refused, got on the streetcar after him, followed Dad off at his stop, then tackled him from behind. My dad actually fought him off and kept his wallet.

Last info I had from the Orleans Parish assistant DA was that they had found the assailant. They decided to charge him with Attempted Simple Robbery. I’m glad my father is out of that outhouse basement of a city now.

RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT.

They should be arrested and tried when consequences occur. It’d put an end to this crap very quickly. Are all the AG’s corrupt too?

What always confuses me is ... people have directly elected these DA-s.

Why do they do it? I haven’t checked the numbers, maybe it’s general apathy, so the radicals dominate over the silent non-voting majority?

At least I am pretty hopeful San Francisco Chesa Boudin’s recall election in June will succeed.

I'd be surprised if it succeeds. We're talking the "People's Republic of San Fran-sicko", after all.

These are the Soros-funded DAs. They make promises of ending ‘systemic racism’ in the office and this is the result: get out of jail free cards = more crime.

Perhaps someone like Cruz can introduce a “Family Protection Accountability Act” federally where families who are victims of these criminals when released or not prosecuted can sue the various players (DA, Judge, etc.) involved in enabling crime.

All cities with radical DAs are going to be as deserted as Detroit if they continue down this path,

Then the Democrats’ developer friends will swoop down, buy up everything dirt cheap, rip down the old buildings, and erect the New Green Utopia. All part of the plan.

Tucker had a story on last night showing the city of Seattle purchased a new high-end highrise (condos $600,000 range) to GIVE housing to the homeless.

First of all. They’ve got the majority of people thinking that tge problem is “homelessness” instead ic crack, meth, fentanyl and batshit crazy mental illness. Many people actually believe this.

Second of all there are a lot of scam artists in league with the city/corrupt pols who are stealing from the public trough.

Third of all while that example is egregious and undoubtedly factual it’s the “attacking random people with machetes on the street while shirtless and shouting indecipherable gibberish” that really gets to the heart of what is actually happening.
