Satellite antennas here at Svalbard are linked to mainland Norway via two subsea fiberoptic cables.
Disruption at one of two undersea cables to Svalbard There is no redundant between the Arctic archipelago and mainland Norway after loss of power in the area where the fiberoptic cable follows the seabed down to a depth of 2,700 meters in the Greenland Sea.

The cable was probably severed because of Climate Change.
Everything bad that happens anywhere is caused by either Trump or Climate Change. And I don’t think Trump is involved here.

Would this satellite station provide data on Ukraine and the Russian forces surrounding it?
That’s my guess. Russia and motive is Ukraine.

Seismic activity often plays a role in these kinds of incidents. The seafloor is over 8,000 ft deep in some areas that the cable traverses. Lots of stuff can happen at that depth. No submarines can go that deep so unless they announce at what depth it was disrupted speculation that it was man made activity is just that - speculation.

I am guessing that they are glad to be good customers of Elon,
Hopefully Starlink has essential connectivity functions covered.
