A Florida man and his wife, both of them sheriff’s deputies, have committed suicide within days of each other, leaving their one-month-old son behind as an orphan, an official said.
Clayton Osteen, a St. Lucie County Deputy, died on January 2nd. Days after Osteen’s death, his wife, Deputy Victoria Pacheco, also took her own life “in the wake of her husband’s death,” Sheriff Ken Mascara said in a statement on Tuesday.
This sounds fishy.
The baby is being taken care of by family members. Osteen is a rather prominent name in St. Lucie county and there is extensive family here.
This is local to me and the paper here could not be bothered to cover it. It’s too busy bashing DeSantis.
Stop speculating. You have no reason whatsoever to cast such accusations against her or him. Shame on you!!!!!
Thank you. This had me in tears. Where I live is served by deputies of this office. I have never had any reason to complain about how they respond to any incident. This loss of life saddens me greatly.
It is called respect for privacy. The sheriff is not taking any media inquiry because frankly beyond the simple known facts it is none of their friggin’ business.
OFFS. I live here. The suicides of both these promising young people is a tragedy. There is nothing to indicate it was anything else. The why of it may never be known. What is know is that help is available for those who find themselves believing there is no other solution.
Jumping Baby Jesus on a Pogo Stick.
These speculations need to just stop. There is nothing whatsoever to indicate it was anything but suicide in both cases. It was after Osteen was taken off life support on his family’s consent that Pacheco took her own life. The why of Osteen’s attempt may never be known. I do know he served his country in the USMC and the people of St. Lucie County as deputy. He deserves more than spurious speculation as does Pacheco.
The Osteen family is rather extensive.
Prayers up for all who are touched by this tragedy, most especially the baby :-/
Thank you for the reassurances about the child. I wish someone could have at intervened at least before the mother took her own life.
Regarding the local papers not doing their job, but instead using their 'platform' to bash those they disagree with politically, this is obviously the modus operandi for almost the entire media these days. They are essentially just propagandists.
I think it’s simply laziness on the part of the reporters. There are more sources of info than harumphing sheriffs. That privacy thing is just an excuse to hide behind. Why even announce it at all?
Here is a story that says they were separated shortly before birth, so that definitely suggests infidelity on the mother.

The pic of Osteen...
He loos like someone going through hell. Not that it always shows...
