A desperate mother has just abandoned her baby in a cardboard box in Alaska with a heartbreaking note from her saying she could not afford to feed the baby.
The baby was rescued around 2 p.m. on New Year’s Eve after Alaska state troopers responded to a report of an abandoned baby found, officials confirmed in a statement.
Fairbanks resident Roxy Lane discovered the baby, who was swaddled in blankets and cooing softly and posted a video of the note and the baby on Facebook.
Can’t afford to feed the baby..
hello, ever heard of breast milk?
According to relatives who live up there, lots of people who freeze to death in Alaska die after they pass out from drinking too much.
It is definitely global warming that is to blame.
lived in Alaska and my bet is that more likely hidden pregnancy from parents and fear of family finding out she was pregnant....A child is a gold ticket to welfare programs in the state, so I am guessing not a drug abuser because those babies have to be dragged away from the addict. think a note a 14 0r 15-year-old would leave because of fear that family won’t help her with the baby...there is a real problem with predatory men going after young girls. because of the transitory nature of a lot of people who come to work in the summertime by the time she knows she is pregnant the person is no longer in the area and the girl has no way of contacting the guy....of course all of this is speculation.
Really?
Perhaps they should remember, before they start running their mouths about something of which they know nothing, that we fed them and kept them from starvation after WWII.
as deadly as the weather is in Fairbanks my bet the baby was abandoned and discovered within five minutes of abandonment.... good chance mom was watching at a distance in hiding.
“lived in Alaska and my bet is that more likely hidden pregnancy from parents...”

Tend to agree with your assessment, PCPOET7.
As the baby was in good health, whoever had it was doing the best she could do at the time........ Though...she did use, “...we...” at one point. The father could actually be an underaged boy who may also have feared to be found out to be the father....
I am so glad to have this child in the hands of the authorities. May they be granted with both brains and heart to place this child in a good home.
...You can go crazy cheap on a baby...
Breastmilk is free, and that mostly covers food costs for what, six months at least?
Diapers, you can do cloth diapers and just wash ‘em. breastmilk poop isn’t that bad to clean out either.
You can get cheap/free clothes and other supplies at many thrift stores. Plus, friends and relatives will probably give you free stuff too. Religious charities often have free aid packs too.
So now it’s just a matter of time and attention. And, as others mentioned, momma’s gotta stay drug- and mostly alcohol-free!
SNAP is food stamps. WIC is women, infants, & children. I believe WIC gives out food if you have it.
SNAP looks like a credit card & is meant to be used as the old food stamps.
My hairdresser was a surrogate for two different families. I think people who have money are turning to that as adopting takes forever.
i reiterate... is there none of that there to feed the kid???
make no mistake, i think it’s better off given up, but wi all the welfare out there how is that kid is hungry unless the mother is a POS???
Well, she may not have died for the child but has chosen a life without him because it is better for him. That is a huge sacrifice.
I don’t know.
Ok, Thank You.
