If they are found to have any health problems in this respect they will be grounded. End of the story.

Think we have flight delays now? Wait until pilots start losing their flight clearance in droves.

Well right now we keep it to ourselves because should the word get out that what we might contemplate could cause big misunderstandings. But just an fyi: we’re against being vaxxed, at least some of us in the group. There are over 1200 pilots plus crews both cabin and ground.

My instructor told me that the FAA is only making pilots wait for 48 hours after getting Jabbed. I won’t be getting on an Airliner and will fly my 172 to Texas and New Hampshire this year to see family.

Thank you
After I hit “post” I had second thoughts....then I see I somehow double posted.

Like “Tommy” said in the play, “I think I’ll go home now.”

That may make sense for the more senior pilots. But for those in their first 10 years keep in mind that they had to accumulate 1,000 plus hours of flight time as PIC plus their Commercial ATP rating and Instrument rating. This means either they came from the military or paid on their own.

Pay rates for the first 5-10 years as Flight Engineer or Co Pilot are not enough to become wealthy while working their way up the seniority ladder plus they are likely paying back their civilian training costs.

Doctors and Lawyers get stuck in this early to mid-career situation too. It is harder than one might think to just quit and go into another career that has the potential to cover their debts long term.

Excellent points. My friends are all well into their careers so those issues are out of sight, out of mind.

There are guys that are going to work with crushing pains in their chests and their heads.

These idiots need to be grounded - period.

Cabin aircrew are responsible for other people's lives.

Incredibly poor judgment by these aircrew members, which calls into question their judgement pertaining to other aspects of their job.

Employees with "comprehensive leave" policies i.e. paid time off is sick and personal time off rolled together. Many choose to come to work sick to avoid losing paid time off. My wife has a couple of those inconsiderate types working in her small police/fire/EMS dispatch office. The two most inconsiderate have enjoyed lengthy vacations, then came back to work sick. They refused unpaid time off due to sickness because they had burned all of their leave hours.

Taking down a dispatch office with COVID is bad news. It takes 15 weeks to train a replacement after weeks of recruiting to find an applicant capable of finishing the training.

Clearly having a pilot with the same attitude carries an even higher risk with a crash. The problem is broader than airlines or dispatch. Consider the consequences of an 18 wheeler driven by an impaired driver.

Alcohol no more causes bad behavior than guns cause violence.

@There was some point in the 1990s when it started to bother me on the number of passengers showing up either drunk or fairly doped-up. After 9-11, my concern went up a notch.

Personally, it's reached the point where no alcohol should be served on the plane, or in the airport."

Are we letting our inner leftist control-freak out today?.

Sounds like it’s a very bad policy to combine vacation with sick time.

If Chicken Little tells you that the sky is falling
Even if it wasn't, would you still come crawling
Back again?
I bet you would my friend
Again, and again, and again, and again

I remember reading a few months back that several European countries weren’t allowing vaccinated people to fly on commercial airlines because so many were having cardiac issues when they got to a high altitude.
