"On Thursday, the Lt. Col. that criticized the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal and called for accountability in August was released from the Marine Corps.

Former Marine Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller announced the news in a lengthy Facebook post, recapping the events over the last four months that led up to his discharge.

I was released from the Marine Corps today, Thursday, December 23rd, 2021. I am filled with mixed emotions. I would like to sincerely thank the Marine Corps for forging me into a man," Scheller said. "And from the bottom of my heart, I'd like to thank all the Marines who served, led, bled, and suffered alongside me the past 17 years."

There was no way to hold both the airbase and the embassy/airport; poor timing, but the two places were too far apart.

It seems very clear from the circumstances around this withdrawal that a deal had been made with the Taliban to turn the country over to them; they stopped killing Americans eighteen months before, and calmly took over the presidential mansion with no fanfare or resistance. It just seems the screw-up was on our part in organizing the retreat/defeat.

Agree. There’s some chatter that he may run for Congress. Wouldn’t it be great to see him grill General Milley as a member of the House Armed Services Committee or some such? Would be poetic Justice for sure 😂 ….
