I am not sure who told Chevrolet that what we really needed this Christmas was to ugly cry over an ad they produced for the holidays, but whoever it was needs to go sit in the corner and think about what they’ve done. You may have seen the shortened version of this ad, titled “Holiday Ride,” on TV. But you don’t get the full emotional impact without seeing the extended four-minute version, which is a tear-jerker and hit me harder than listening to my child ask me why Mufasa wasn’t waking up.

That was $19.95...Any car, any color....
Great commercial!
No, but Ford took Federally-subsidized loans.
Emotional manipulation only angers me.
Great ad...
My first car was a ‘60 Corvair. It made me laugh and cry at the same time.
Now car design is largely driven by DC regulations.
Government Motors still trying to lure conservatives back to buy their UAW junk?
Oldsmobile was a great car, celebrated in song.
Chevy doesn’t make cars like the one in the commercial any more (excluding maybe the new Corvette).
For the most part, all of today’s vehicles are nearly identical soulless SUVs, crossovers, pickups, and sedans. If you removed the nameplates, you couldn’t tell most of them apart.
Interesting that the car in question is a '66 Impala and not a contemporary car.
I still have the long languishing K5 that do things to when I can.
Not sure when I can afford the big jobs.
In the meantime, clean, paint, powder coat, and do what I can to smaller sections and acquire parts.
I thought the ATT ‘Saving Simon’ the snowman commercial was hilarious (at the end); my wife cried
Sweet ad, but GM blew their chance with me.. owned one, a supposedly “good” car and “engine” at the time, that was in the shop constantly and dropped its transmission at 3am in the morning with about 80k miles on it in the middle of nowhere, while trying to get to my father in law in Florida who had just had a stroke, with my 10 day old son in the car.
Needless to say, I will never own a vehicle made by GM ever again... by far, the WORST vehicle I ever owned in my entire life, and I have owned countless brands over my lifetime... Nothing, and I do mean nothing, was a bigger pile of crap.
YOu mean the APPLE ad? Yea, I laughed my butt off at that one.. My wife was crying..
Super sweet. And I didn’t really get the shortened version. This is beautiful.
And I love the car! Brings back memories.
Loved the ad but as a car guy I cringed whwen they returned it to a drafty dirt floor barn.
Also driving away on dirt roads.
I get sentimental at around 1:10 when they splice in the old movies of the wife. Who doesn’t think about lost loved ones at the holidays?
