President Joe Biden’s disastrous economic agenda has set the U.S. economy on a collision course, so what does CNN do? The network pinned blame on older Americans.
CNN released a ridiculous story headlined, “The data that shows Boomers are to blame for the labor shortage.” The story suggested that “Early retirement — whether forced by the pandemic or made possible otherwise — is having a huge impact on the labor market. And data show that retiring boomers, far more than ‘lazy’ millennials, are the biggest force behind the labor shortage.” But as Washington Post columnist Marc Thiessen pointed out Oct. 21: “The Biden administration’s policies are exacerbating the inflation and extreme labor shortages we are experiencing.” He continued: “Why are we experiencing such a massive worker shortage? Simple. Workers can afford to be on the sidelines.”

...and who can pass a drug test.
What CNN deliberately omits is that a lot of Boomers were not going to submit to the Biden vax mandate.
What was the amount of the “stimulus” checks these boomers became rich on???? Good grief. I “retired” a year ago and work about 25 hours per week on an as needed basis. This with SS and some savings is all I need. Also, weren’t these same folks bitching a year or two ago about how boomers were staying in jobs thus keeping the youngins unemployed?
How many boomers decided to retire earlier than they would have otherwise rather than take the mandatory vaccine?
That number is probably in the millions.
In addition, many boomers can take a temporary “retirement”, wait until the vaccine mandates and mask requirements are over (whenever that is) and then go back to work at some job when things return to “normal”.
Point taken... boomers were originally thought of as the progeny of men returning home from WWII which started a baby boom that lasted all through the 1950s. The cutoff date used to be considered those born in 1960. For some reason most sources now claim that boomers were born from 1946 to 1964. A person born in 1964 is most likely to be 57.
I know this to be a fact.
Baby Boom officially ended in 1964. So the youngest ‘Boomers’ are 58. But the bulk of them born between 1946 & 1960 are already gone, with the exception of the high-skilled ones who are probably doing contract work.
This makes you wonder what the writer is talking about? Do they even take a glance at the numbers before writing these sweeping conclusions?
In other words, we’re so good that we can’t be replaced?
I was born in 1949, making me 72; and, still going at a private contract embedded engineer.
Pay more = More workers. Yes the laws of supply and demand work for labor.
The older folks have a work ethic and are more reliable than a lot of younger workers. The young kids I work with expect time off the 2nd month of employment, call in sick ALL THE TIME, show no incentive and don’t stick around too long. And don’t get me started on their cell phone usage and rudeness to other employees and customers.
Boomers actually do hard work. Punks today, not so much.
And data show that retiring boomers, far more than ‘lazy’ millennials, are the biggest force behind the labor shortage.”
listen stooopid, boomers are responsible for the OPENINGS, you lot are not filling them...
I am taking early retirement due to the mandate. I am one of the younger boomers.
were either of their pedophile producers boomers?
And boomers have run out of Effs to give about what CNN says
Every recruiter in America knows this...every single one.
I am waiting for that great job at the John Kerry Solar Panel factory. If only we passed the 6uild 6ack 6etter bill.
Mmmm. Looks like things should change pretty soon if those savings are being blown at that pace.
