Trump: "I didn’t... because if you fire him [Fauci] you're going to have a firestorm on the Left."

Should have done it anyways.
Trump was between a rock and a hard place. Fauci was recognized as the expert on viral epidemic and was pushed by leading health organizations. If Trump did not use him Trump would be attacked from the left and if Trump fired him the left and the MSM would attack him and Pelosi would try to impeach him again.
By the first chapter.
What the powers that be have done is appalling. Fauci is the face of it all and a major player, but hardly alone in all this.
Personally, I don't think he's going to run or he'd have formally announced by now. Being a former president with another term available to him, he has no reason to hold off.
He's raking in tons of money fundraising though. My fear is that he'll sit on the fence long enough to take the wind out of the sails of any other viable MAGA candidate, only to announce late in the game that he's not running, opening the door to a RINO frontrunner.
Trump has never supported vax mandates.
Fauci was brought in under Ronald Reagan. The plan was to fire him right after the election.
Spoken like a first grader.
Try thinking strategy instead of tilting at windmills Don Quixote.
Principles are great until they run into the Wall of Impossibilities.
So, keep fighting for your principles, but learn to strategize.
Learn something from President Trump.
I shouldn’t have to say this on FreeRepublic.
The left used to hate Fauci.
“ If Trump and others are unwilling to fire swamp bureaucrats like Fauci, how do we expect to purge our government of our enemies? ”
This.
It is not just Fauci. If Trump returns, he will need to rip the entire Federal government out by the roots - every last one of them - or they will simply do to him what they did before. He cannot manage a federal bureaucracy that simply refuses, universally, to be managed by any but fellow riders. At this point in the development of the federal behemoth, that is the only way to return the government to a Constitutional Republic.
He was concerned about a firestorm from the left? Right……… Ever notice nothing is ever his fault? He had a firestorm from the left from day 1. Fauci would have been just another blip. He just didn’t take action from whatever reason. But that reason ISN’T over a concern of a firestorm from the left.
And Yrump needs arrested for not firing him. Criminal.
Re: 64 - Well, here’s to hoping DeSantis declares sooner rather than later, and does it on his terms.
Re: 70 - Had some FReepers take offense a few months ago to the claim that “the buck stops here” was not applicable to President Trump based on a list of excuses.
The election happened. Fauci remained. Do the election wasn’t the plan.
DeSantis isn't going to declare until after he's secured his gubernatorial re-election in Florida next year. If he did, it would be used against him by his opponent. He's got to wait it out a little longer.
Because to them, Trump is always perfect. 3D chess crap. Always an excuse.
Trump was right where the left wanted him, caught between a rock and a hard place. Lose or lose worse. Either way they had him cornered.
“He fears the left more than he fears his own base.”
There was a lot of uncertainty regarding the corona virus at the time (and still is) and a lot of people, not just politicians, liked Fauci. Trump couldn’t have made a politically acceptable case for firing him.
He may not support them but he sure enforces them.

I’m not buying this BS excuse from Trump.
