In Australia there is a culture of silence surrounding injustices done to individuals by police and the courts.
Yesterday, the 2nd December, while the government of Socialist Left premier Daniel Andrews accrues more and more power, one woman in Victoria's state parliament spoke up against physical abuse of one man by an arrogant normally unaccountable police force.
I was present when the man (who wishes to remain anonymous) was dragged out of his bed in the early morning on December 1st at a round the clock protest against legislation passed the next day which concentrates power to call lockdowns in the office of the state premier.
The man had committed no crime and was not arrested. He was dragged in his underwear begging police not to hurt him behind two parked police vehicles arranged so that CCTV cameras were probably obscured.
He then cried out in pain and emerged with a wrist injury later requiring medical attention.
Catherine Cumming a member of parliament saw footage of what happened before he was taken behind the parked vehicles. On that basis alone she condemned the government for disgusting misuse of police services.
Her acb of speaking up might be a breakthrough in Australian political culture.
In the meantime Ron DeSantis is right. America is not aligned with freedom and democracy in Australia. But Catherine Cumming has taken a small step to change that.
Apologies that I cannot post more images here now.
Thanks and stay safe.
