My adult daughter called my music ‘fogey music’....... Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Moody Blues, etc.
Then one day she discovered THE BEATLES..................................
I have been listening to a lot of Beatles recently. To my surprise, I have come to find a lot of it trite and precious, while a dozen or so rock ‘n’ roll songs remain fresh.
Exceptions might be Let it Be and Hey Jude — both timeless and classic.
Great rock ‘n’ roll Beatles songs include Revolution, Twist & Shout, Dizzy Miss Lizzy, You’re Gonna Lose that Girl, Money (That’s What I want), Long Tall Sally, Roll Over Beethoven, and You Really Got a Hold on Me. The songs where John really lets it all out. They had respect for Little Richard, and it shows.
A lot of the Beatles catalogue is stale because they took more artistic chances than say, the Stones. A lot of it was bound to lose its appeal. Overall of course they were a great band, though it’s tragic how much they did to mainstream the drug culture. In that respect they will have a lot to answer for.
Just between my nieces, nephews, and my daughters group of friends I personally know four or five teens that are obsessed with the Beatles. I also know 3 of them that started playing guitar because they wanted to play Beatles songs (amongst other things). I love Beatles music, they are maybe my favorite band of all time but I am still taken aback at how many kids fall in love with their 50+ year old music. Magical stuff.
“Dad Rock”
Speaking of this is a hillarious video, featuring Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains.

The most overrated band in history.
