I’ve seen this claim on both the left and the right. It is wrong. Kyle Rittenhouse is no hero. Not at all. He did nothing heroic. Not. One. Thing. At least on that fateful night when he shot three people. One might rightfully grant him kudos for his testimony in court and his subsequent statements after the trial. However, it certainly appears to me that so many are determined to label his actions on the night for which he was tried and acquitted for as heroic. I strongly disagree.
Kyle Rittenhouse defended his life. End of story. Whatever else one might say about him and his actions it all boils down to that. It was self preservation, plain and simple. There is nothing wrong with that. Self defense is our God-given, constitutionally protected right. It was his right. He acted accordingly and rightfully so.
This is the crux – the very point Kyle Rittenhouse correctly defended his actions when he was wrongfully charged and tried. This is the spearhead we need to thrust into the false balloon of the left.
One may debate about Kyle Rittenhouse’s actions before and/or after the shootings. Debate all you want, if Rittenhouse did anything the prosecution could have charged him with – they would have done so without hesitation.
The only conclusion left to make is while those actions may have been ill-advised they were not illegal. Let him without sin cast the first stone.
During closing arguments, the prosecution tried to paint those who attacked Kyle Rittenhouse as heroes. They tried to contrast Rittenhouse by anticipating, likely incorrectly, that the defense would say Kyle Rittenhouse was a hero. Both sides knew this would be a mistake. The stand the defense took from the beginning was Kyle Rittenhouse acted in self-defense. Nothing more. Nothing less.
It was the correct and accurate defense. The men who were shot were shot because they threatened the life on Kyle Rittenhouse. The question put to the jury was essentially “was Kyle Rittenhouse reasonably in fear for his life each time he pulled the trigger?”. The jury replied in each case, “yes”.
I bet he sleeps with Bill Kristol. They share "common interests".
Yes, he is and I suspect also suffering from a terminal case of penis envy. Kyle definitely has a penis but the author is questionable.
Kyle Rittenhouse IS a hero!
He heroically stepped in when those who were suppose to defend their town were prevented from doing so
He rendered aid, put out fires.......and defended himself from riotous scum by practicing his second amendment rights!
.
Still more articles on Rittenhouse, after a jury saw the obvious self defense from Felons, when Waukesha Willie oozing with Hate for whites ran down kids and Grandmothers to the tune of 60 wounded.
.
I read the whole thing and got his “drift”. The headline is there to grab attention, and it did so.
“No, he was only defending his life”, though, is a ridiculous assertion. He was there, as were some other patriots, to keep other car dealerships from going up in flames, cars and all. That is heroic, just for starters.
But then, as in the Pacific, when surrounded by japs, or in Europe, surrounded by krauts, guys like Audie Murphy, sure enough, defended their own lives while defending the lives of others. They went in harm’s way, and they survived, as they displayed massive courage, skill, instincts and, yes, heroism.
Dumb essay; pointless.
I wasn’t sure what to think…and, then, he added “Once and for all”. Now, the author convinced me of his point. (snarky sarcasm)
He killed vermin. He’s a hero.
FJB!
Kyle was doing what hired government agents wouldn’t: clean graffiti, extinguish fires, render aid, stop lethal violence - amid a nasty mob perpetrating crimes en masse.
Yes he was a hero, insofar as a hero is one who runs to danger to preserve life & order where others tasked therewith flee.
Sure he is. You just don’t like it.
Andy
I’ve seen this claim on both the left and the right. …What?
I agree and disagree.
Yes, he exercised his God-given right to self-defense but, he is also a hero of all of us for our 2nd Amendment which the Left is trying to dismantle. Along with the rest of our Constitutional Rights.
An inadvertent hero of this cause but, a hero nonetheless.
He was just 17 years old at the time. How many adult men much older than he would have done what he did?
This author has not thought this entire scenario through. Evaluating it in its entirety before publishing his “thoughts”. Just my thoughts.
This author has not a single clue about what he speaks of.
Kyle Rittenhouse should be a person we admire, and not because he killed two scumbags and wounded another to save his own life.
He was a 17 year old kid who was trying to put himself on the fast track to being a self-reliant, responsible and contributing member of society.
At 17, he could have been out drinking with friends that night watching all this from a rooftop, or playing video games.
But he wasn’t. He was hanging around with people who had values we see as American in nature, was learning how to responsibly handle firearms, be a lifeguard, administer first aid, and participate in constructive group activities to counteract the actions of his brains-full-of-mush peers who were all in on social justice.
That fateful day, that 17 year old young man volunteered to clean up the mess made by many of his Leftist peers by cleaning their filthy graffiti off of buildings. And when someone asked for help to guard his at-risk business, he volunteered for that too.
In the parlance of conservatives, he was learning to be a Sheepdog.
Not a Sheep.
And most definitely, not a Wolf.
He was learning how to be a Sheepdog. We should admire a young man like him. We need more like him, across all age groups.
Who is Andy and why is his opinion worthy of a thread on FR?
How do you know he hasn’t. Maybe he practices the three S’s. I disdain smug comments like yours.
So, maybe I won’t read later.
This author needs a diaper change. His is obviously full of the back door stuff and making him cranky.
Kyle stood up when so many sat down. He did what he could above and beyond the call of duty for someone in his age group and situation. Is he a hero? Not really. The author was right about that but wrong that Kyle’s actions were not heroic. They were and he executed his self-defense moves to near perfection. His instincts were spot on and he did the right things when he needed to do them. I’m sure the tapes will be used to teach future and present police and soldier students. I think they should be anyway.
Nor is he a villain.
Agree.
