My date and I saw the Airplane at the old Iowa Field House in Iowa City back in ‘69.
Our seats were second row center, right in front of the biggest loudspeaker I’d ever seen.
I had ringing in my ears for weeks...

It is on youtube but it is from the album which is quirky in that the lead singer-Grace Slick is way in the background. Live it was different. I like the music from Great Society, though. Just go to youtube and search Grace Slick She’s all there. My son took me to a Starship concert that featured Gracie and no one else from the Airplane and it was pretty bad. The original Jefferson Airplane with Signe Toly Anderson was good, too, but Miss Anderson decided she would rather be housewife and left the music world. It was a loss.

Ah yes, I remember Mad Season. Never did check out their full albums though. Might have to go back and look again.

Little Girl Blue just really spotlights who janis was. Her best song was
Me and Bobby McGee.
I think Leonard Cohen told Janis' story in
Chelsea Hotel, very poignant, sad, and a bit ugly.
And clenching your fist for the ones like us
Who are oppressed by the figures of beauty
You fixed yourself, you said: Well, never mind
We are ugly but we have the music
She reminds me a bit of Bessie Smith:
About Her - Malcom McLaren and Bessie Smith
