IMO, Layne Staley of Alice in Chains has the most underrated voice/range in music history.
Amen to that. The pairing of Staley's vocals with Cantrell's musical genius made them one of the greatest bands ever, as far as I'm concerned. I have to be in a particular mood these days to listen to them though.

Her pitch and vibrato made her voice so strong and powerful, and this song was totally unique - nothing on the radio sounded anything like it. Add outstanding musicianship and you have a smash hit with staying power.
The dual male-female lead vocals was an inspired decision that gave the band a 20 year run.

‘The drumming and bass intro reminds me of a classical piece written by Maurice Ravel called “Bolero”.’
both pieces make use of the distinctive Phrygian mode, essentially a natural minor with the second lowered a semitone...Ravel employed both the Phrygian and Dorian (a minor mode featuring a raised sixth) with a resulting exotic, almost somnolent timbre...

I like the song’s effective use of dynamics and the fact that it is in a minor key.

Similarly, when I hear Vera Lynn singing we’ll meet again, I get chills because of the context of the song. This came out at the same time as "White Rabbit." It didn't chart, but it should have been a big hit.

I was just about to say that! (NOT)
You really know your music construction terminology.
You must have studied the theories of chromatic scale.
Forbidden knowledge!
