The View from Galt's Gulch [shameless vanity]
My camera | 11/5/2021

Just thought I'd give a tiny little slideshow.

Reservior in Kaeng Krachan National Park (about 50 miles away)

Little fish pond at a Buddhist temple up in the mountains near me

Some Thai ladies trying to figure out Fussball at a party a few days ago

Morning bike ride today

View from a little beachside place where, when open, you can get a beverage of choice (adult or otherwise) and enjoy the surf coming in.

“I refuse to leave my beloved grandchildren. I’m stuck here unfortunately.”

Same here, plus I’m too old to be adventurous. There is an interesting youtube channel by a guy who calls himself the Nomad Capitalist. He says to go where you are treated best. I don’t necessarily think he picks the best places, but he does give out a lot of info on various countries.

Have you ever watched any of the videos on youtube by the Nomad Capitalist? He says to go where you are treated best. With the way things are going in the US, it may be time for the younger folks to start looking around. I don’t want my grandchildren to live in a country where they are persecuted for being white.

I visited Pattaya twice while in the Navy. My favorite liberty port. The women were freakin gorgeous. I think the scenery was, too, but my memory is little sketchy there. Really, though, it was a fun, beautiful place.

I’ve only visited once but found the Thai people to be beautiful and their language sounds like a song. Great food, too!

I've been subbed to that channel for a long time.

I may not agree with everything he says but I agree with the general idea.

I'm sure back in the day, Pattaya would be a lot of sailors' favorite liberty port. (Living here I never go there, but for a young, single guy with a few days and a fistful of money...)

Agree on the women.

There's a ton more to see and do in Thailand. I could play tourist every day for 5 years and not see even half of what there is to see.

There’s still gulch potential in MD. My 85 year old Mom lives in a 100 year old farmhouse on the Eastern Shore next to the water at the end of a long dirt road. Nothing but her and the wildlife.

I hear you (and felt the same way sort-of about the mountains).

But the reach of the Baltimore City/PG/Monkey County nazis reaches far and wide. That's why the west is trying to secede and join Best Virginia.

I grew up in Monkey County in the 60’s.
It was mostly farmland then. The last time I was there was 2007.
I got lost.

Ditto. It’s too bad so many countries have gun control laws. In many of those places, you need a gun!

Great action plan; congratulations on executing it and finding such a beautiful place.

How can an expat ever really count on being “treated best” in a foreign land? I always wonder how these other countries will end up, despite their idyllic settings and welcome. What if the context changes and being a non-native becomes stigmatized?

That’s the big question, right? Who knows what will happen in any country. Right now, ours is heading down a bad path. As Yogi Berra said, “Predictions are hard to make; especially about the future.” :-)
