I think that the prosecution is going to argue that Rittenhouse had no business being there (”looking for trouble”) and no business carrying a rifle One argument that I saw was that since he brought a gun to a "protest" he gave up his right to self-defense. Can't remember if this was from a prosecutor or a "journalist".

I don’t see how anyone can conclude that bringing their firearm to a riot means you give up your right to self defense. I don’t know what the law says, but in my mind, nothing but being in the process of committing a crime forfeits the right to self defense - i.e. a perp can’t shoot back at his intended victim.
