I didn’t realize the really good slaves got multi-million dollar signing bonuses.
Maybe don’t work for the NFL then? They can always use their free degrees they received...
“Eli Manning was selected by the San Diego Chargers with the number one overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft, but he did not want to play for the Chargers, so they traded him to the Giants.” Some apparently have the right to refuse.
Yep - that’s exactly what it is like.
Seriously GFY!
It does seem weird that the US is the only country where professional teams have drafts.
In the rest of the world, for soccer, generally they have academies to develop young talent and then go out and recruit and sign players, just like college football.
You know the NFL can end this garbage simply by reinstating him and demanding that the LA Raiders bench their current QB and start CK. Since they forced Gruden to resign over benign emails then they need to make an example of how tolerant they are.
When they start chaining them to oaks and beating them with whips, let me know.
Are you really this stupid?
Wrong. Kapernick and Flood could choose not to work at all if they wish to do so. That was not an option for slaves. However, Kapernick isn't qualified to do anything other than play with a ball. His choice (before he met his girlfriend and went stupid) was to play football and make millions in income or be unemployed. He chose to be unemployed. That's a choice slaves did not have.
Yep. At the combines the overseers use stopwatches and tape measures instead of whips. If you don’t perform, no money, no food. Kaepernick has a point.
Of course one could always decide to remove their name from the draft pool. It was a little more difficult to get off the boat.
Who says the draftee has to accept his draft?
Slaves couldn't become free agents.
They didn't have agents and salary negotiations either.
Curt Flood was right. Kaepernick, not so much.
They can always just walk away. Unless they want to be rich. That’s slavery? Most of us are never given the option.
Just “follow the drinking gourd” and take the underground railroad (are even Amtrak) to Canada and take one tenth the NFL pay to play in the freedom of the CFL.
It was his free choice to pursue a career in, and the spoils of becoming a pro football player in the NFL. He could have just as easily pursued a career in any other employment of his choosing, in fact, he still can.
From a long time ago:
Johnny Carson: so why do you where gold chains?
Mr. T: to remind me of my slave heritage.
Johnny Carson: but, GOLD chains?
Mr. T: I’m better paid.
I wonder how this doofus would like to be drafted into the military with chickenshit pay and be sent off to use as cannon fodder?
Since he lived with adopted white parents wouldn’t the regular black folks call him “house?”
