I remember watching a telivision quiz show in the 1950’s called “You Bet Your Life” with Groucho Marx as the host of the show. One night he had a couple on and when Groucho asked if they had any children the man said they had 16. Groucho asked why they had so many kids and the man said, “well Groucho I really love m y wife”. Groucho replied, “I really love my cigar too but I take it out every once in a while”.
I was a kid back then and didn’t understand what the remarks were all about but I saw a re-run of the show decades later and remembered it and then had a really good laugh.
