“Outsourcer’s dream?” Try “sorcerer’s” dream…the apprentice is simply an inert conduit.
In semi-related news, I see they’ve finally found an acceptable fall guy (who isn’t female with a Hispanic surname) for Alec Baldwin:
The assistant director of “Rust” who reportedly handed Alec Baldwin the prop gun that killed Halyna Hutchins was fired from a previous production gig over another firearm incident…Halls had shouted that the weapon was a “cold gun” — meaning it was safe to use — before giving it to Baldwin, according to a search warrant issued on Friday.
Which I guess makes Baldwin - the guy who actually drew the gun, pointed the gun and pulled the trigger - nothing more than an unwitting accomplice to the disaster; an inept sorcerer’s apprentice. Just like Joey.
But still guilty.

Too soon?
Who doesn’t check any gun handed to them for it’s condition?
If a rangemaster handed me a gun and said it was not loaded I still would check it…..
That’s the rules….. sorry for Baldwin (not really) but it’s involuntary manslaughter….. the AD was just negligent….
“Which I guess makes Baldwin - the guy who actually drew the gun, pointed the gun and pulled the trigger - nothing more than an unwitting accomplice to the disaster...”
Dumbass.
To the un-initiated, they might think "why bother?" Sure, the salesperson making the first check is probably a good idea. You don't know if someone put it back in the case in an unsafe condition. But when I check it (twice) and he/she checks it for a fourth time, isn't that excessive? No. It is not that either of us thinks the firearm magically loaded itself right in front of us without us noticing. It is that we are training ourselves that you always, always, always check. It just becomes automatic. You pick up a firearm, you check it.
That shop (and at least one local gun range) has a rule you never hand a weapon to someone. It is always placed on a table/surface for an exchange. That way there are no slips, no drops, no grabbing for something before it falls resulting in an AD. Another good habit to get into.
Sad to say but if Mr. Baldwin knew even half as much as he thinks he does about firearms and firearm safety he would not have killed someone by accident and injured another. That is one of the many problems with too many of these "gun control" advocates. They really do not know what they are talking about, have no base of experience. Worse, the things they think they know are mostly wrong, mostly learned from Hollywood and people like Mr. Baldwin who don't know what they're doing either.
Has anyone seen any photos of the firearm used? black Powder? Cartridge revolver? The bullet and case?
Alec Baldwin doesn’t.
No and to make matters worse, news articles are using stock images of old Western looking guns, to them, including at least one black powder gun.
I was asking the choir the same pistol identification question yesterday because...
Old “western” single action revolvers were routinely carried with an empty chamber under the hammer, because they were unsafe to carry otherwise.
If this Single action was an old revolver like Hollywood probably has in their various collection(s), perhaps the armorer did not recognize that perscribed safety measure for these older single action revolvers.
That’s the only thing I can think of other than sheer neglect all the way around.
Only a fool or idiot.
“This is what was reported in the news.
It was a vintage Colt Dragoon.”
Well if it was firing cartridges it was modified because that’s what they used to do back in the “olden days” when they went from black powder to cartridges... they modify these old guns.
But even before that you walked around in them piece underneath the hammer because it was dangerous not to do so.
