President Biden’s nominee for a key Treasury Department post believes that the free market does not always “know best.”
Saule Omarova — the Beth and Marc Goldberg Professor of Law at Cornell University and a 1989 graduate of Moscow State University — was tapped to serve as Comptroller of the Currency, which “charters, regulates, and supervises all national banks.”
The Kazakh-American, however, has nodded toward the Soviet economic system’s purported gender equality.
“Until I came to the US, I couldn’t imagine that things like gender pay gap still existed in today’s world. Say what you will about old USSR, there was no gender pay gap there. Market doesn’t always ‘know best,’” she tweeted in 2019.

How can someone so smart be so stupid?
As the old saying in the Soviet Union went, they pretended to pay us and we pretended to work.
Wait, no gender pay gap
So most Russian doctors are women…and what are they paid?
There was no gender pay gap. Nor was there a gender hunger gap. Or gender poverty gap.
You know how much the people from the USSR would have laughed at this? Everyone is broke, but they are all paid the same. LOL
There was an entire genre of jokes based on such thinking.
Flimsey Grahamnesty can’t wait to vote for another lunatic that Senile Joe appointed.
Exactly. Wanna talk about a pay gap? We let this ingrate into America. Let her explain pay and lifestyle difference of ANY profession in America vs their Soviet counterpart.
And there is no female pay gap. There is a female work and commitment to the job gap.
By large majorities, they eventually decide to focus on home, child related things, choose to work less to support that goal, etc. This is a good thing and I hope we see more of it, but they usually do not do the same work.
Another thing they are famous for is not being willing to move FOR a job. Men are far more willing to do so.
Another “pay gap” difference. They compare a teachers assistant to a construction worker and assign them “comparable worth”.
“Omarova graduated from Moscow State University in 1989 on the Lenin Personal Academic Scholarship. Omarova moved to the United States in 1991”
A disgusting person. Never worked a day in her life in the old Soviet system. Graduated college, and moved here immediately when the USSR collapsed.
What an ungrateful person to attack America and try to spread the USSR here.
Last I remember Russian doctors ( general practice) made about $300 a month
That’s odd... during cold war one of the news organs sent over a team of reporters in one of the things recorded was a Soviet factory worker saying that the “government pretends to pay us and we pretend to work.” He was a blurred image behind the silhouette screen, and his voice was electronically altered...
The banks have already tanked this nomination.
Saule Omarova thinks the government should take over the banking system. and has many other like minded ideas.
Communism never sleeps day by day it nears.
There is no “gender pay gap”. If there were, only women would be hired. Maybe a few trannys,
So what,
And Nazi Germany had low unemployment, social welfare and a safe and stable society, the oppression of the jews aside, should we praise them as well?
