Premier Jean Castex this week said that natural gas prices will be kept down through all of 2022 if needed.
Several months of natural gas price rises in France as well as across all of Europe threaten the winter supply of heat for many as well as creating a potential for social unrest.
For the French government the need to keep prices down linked to the April 2022 Presidential Election.
Starting next Friday in France self-testing will no longer be valid for a vaccine passport. People will have to start paying for regular tests in France to get their pass validated that way.
Some 5.9 million adults in France estimated to be unvaccinated.

How does the French government “keep natural gas prices down”? They have a national “Strategic Methane Reserve” or something to dump supply onto the market? We know “price controls” won’t work. Magic? Or ??
Government subsidy but Nord Stream 2 is being tested right now and it can bring the Russia natural gas to France from its endpoint in Germany.
Aaaaah, got it...”helicopter money” from the govt. to pay your inflated gas bill! More “Nord Stream 2” pipeline supply should help in the long run. Thanks for the info..
