So I did a proof of the Collatz Conjecture, and am wondering if anybody here familiar with the process of getting it published. This place has a lot of experts, and if the proof holds, it would be news in itself.
Proof is here:

That Hot Tabasco has a kick!
welcome
Actually, I would not be surprised to find out people seeing it here will be the best I will do. I’m not sure I will ever see it published.
And really, I would prefer it known to everyone here and no credit ever getting to me, to seeing some dork larping as smart among mathematicians, because he stole it and passed it off as his own.
But thanks for the comment. I didn’t think this thread would get any.
Don’t you win a cash prize if you are correct?
If so, don’t forget about your friends at FR. All of them.
I know it sounds nuts to say I solved it, but I not only solved it, I did it with high school math I am pretty sure you can understand.
Take a look, and see if my beginner-level math doesn’t make perfect sense to you. I think the paper could prove it to anyone, if I am right.
And if I am not, get back to me here quick and tell me how, before I look like any more of a rube in this place!
seeing some dork larping as smart among mathematicians, because he stole it and passed it off as his own.
That cannot happen because it was published before at this url.
Can the wikipedia page be edited by anyone?
If so, you could just edit the page to add your proof. That would get a lot of attention.
I don’t know about the prize. They say that, but all I see is a PRNewswire post, which anybody can post, claiming some unknown Japanese company which makes some sort of DJ stuff for raves, is offering a million for the solution.
I think the overwhelming likelihood is the prize will turn out to be fake. At this point it is mainly about doing all this work and not seeing some pogue in the club pick it up and post it as their own and then pretend to be a smart person.
And that said, I will never forget my friends at FR. I actually had a massive posting history here, but got into a position where it could have gotten me into a work-related jam, so I messaged AdminModerator asking for a history wipe, and they obliged.
Insert big forehead wipe here.
And the only other thing I will say is, if you saw a problem described like that, and it got solved, almost on a lark, by a total amateur, who hadn’t done math in over two decades, is there any site where it would be more likely to happen than here?
This is one of the most amazing assortment of individuals you will find on the internet.
Ha! That might be one way to do it! And if they couldn’t disprove it they would have to leave the proof.
Now you’ve got me thinking. That is incredibly subversive.
“That is incredibly subversive.”
Oh oh. FBI will be on it. Can’t have unapproved stuff appearing on the internet. :)
I would think that the editors at Mathematics Magazine could point you in the right direction.
Just write it down, get each page notarized and have them save a copy, and then contact local college or university to have it peer-reviewed
Thank you. I may try that.
Yikes!
What is a funny joke today, is us trying to hold the door closed against a battering ram tomorrow. I could see it happening at this point.
And don’t count on Freepers- those guys are a bunch of smartasses!
=)

I make a mean Chili Concarne.
Some great advice in here so far though. Thank you for your contribution!
Very good work. Bravissimo.
“the process of getting it published” has improved. Do it yourself. Find a publisher, get five friends to compliment your text and credit them in the introduction, sell it on amazon, make audio version, and trust that fans will find your text and love it.
Here is a good coach: https://youtu.be/ejQQhHKIMYg
Thank you! I like that tag line, too.
