VT band used to play a little drum song with the only words being “stick it in. Stick it in” whenever the offense was close to the goal line. The entire band in choreographed unison would make the thrusting move. Funny and great. I’m sure other colleges did it too. Admin made them quit.

Virginia Tech was traditionally an engineering/agriculture school. It is still top heavy in those endeavors, and draws from a more conservative clientele. The old joke was "All Dirt Roads Lead to Blacksburg". Originally it was a cut, but today it is badge of honor.

my daughter graduated VT, and I’ve spent many afternoons and evenings at Lane Stadium. The active Corp of Cadets makes a big difference on campus. The student population comes to appreciate the sacrifice these cadets make and keeps the administration in check.
