Britain also had a lot of time, effort, blood, and treasure invested there that Biden just forfeit. The current images of Kabul looked like a beautiful, modernized city. If everything was a “mess” and we had no choice but to get out, tens of thousands of civilian workers and contractors from the US and other allies would not have been there. Obviously a lot was working...and it was the most stable it had been in awhile even after Trump reduced the troops from 20,000 to 2500. Our air cover was making the difference for local security and could have been left in place.

This administration has been so concentrated on mindless crap that it’s very hard for me to attribute anything at all *clever* to them. They aren’t even good at good at any political sleight-of-hand.
They just aren’t capable of pulling it off. And having hands like that at the wheel is more frightening to me than a global leftist conspiracy is.
