What arrogance from our Ivygarchy. Imagine the conversations, we are going to import Fourth Wave Feminism into a predominately rural country with deep rooted views about women. Did these idiots think Afghanistan could change in a few years. It took the West hundreds of years to change. Turkish ambassadors who traveled to the West during the Renaissance and Early Modern Eras were amazed at how the women behaved compared to how women were expected to act in the Ottoman Empire.

The U.S. Army did more for women’s rights in Afghanistan than every feminist ever spawned. Now they find their voices?

Feminists can make Afghani women as miserable as they are.

women threw off their burqae 20 years ago,
but the UN and the CLINTONS decided they must wear them.

and they did.

THE WAY TO FREEDOM WAS TO ALLOW WOMEN TO RUN ALL OFFICES
OF AFGHANISTAN AFTER 9/11. ALL.

"You disgusting macho pig oppressors must fight for feminism in Afghanistan!"

Yeah, that'll motivate young men.

It is indeed elitist arrogance.

Cultures only change over centuries, and according to their underlying history, religious and belief systems. American central-planners, blinded by military power, technology and especially massive debt and printed money, believed they could achieve any change in human behavior. This is also classic Marxist thinking.

I believe we are seeing the apogee of Progressive social-engineering in the United States. It will first fail overseas, and then domestically. Failure domestically will take longer, and cause massive pain and dislocation.

You have to start off easy: Women are people, too.

Too much, too soon? We were there for 20 years! That’s a generation. Clearly, the majority of Afghans didn’t want change.

When General Douglas MacArthur went into Japan after World War II he said the most important problem was how Geisha girls were treated. MacArtur let the emperor stay in place, did noting about the warrior culture and 20 years later left with his tail between his legs while Japan nuked Washington..

Oh wait, that didn’t happen - MacArtur wasn’t a two bit fool like the idiots running the Pentagon today... Yeah Miley and Austin - we’re talking about you guys..

And it’s not like they don’t have phones with internet, they can actually see where the culture went in the west and how far beyond common sense it is still going.

The US sent “gender advisors” to the country

US programs gave “trainings to 1,105 Afghan men in which they could discuss their own gender roles

The Taliban stripped Afghan women of all their human rights, and the U.S. sent "gender advisors" to talk about "gender roles"?

How embarrassing.

“US programs gave “trainings to 1,105 Afghan men in which they could discuss their own gender roles and examine male attitudes that are harmful to women.” One initiative was called the “National Masculinity Alliance”.”

“...the lack of a Dari and Pashto translation for “gender equality”.”

The article is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of the need to keep women away from positions of power. About the only exception that I would agree to is if the woman is a Republican (RINO, most likely, because we are talking about...well, women) and the alternative is a Democrat.

If we were REALLY trying to win over ‘hearts and minds’, it probably would have been a bit helpful to consider the ‘hearts of minds’ of the men there, since they had OPTIONS (like joining the Taliban to put a stop to this crap).

Afghan women were central to the US policy too — an astonishing US government report from February 2021 shows just how central. The Americans pursued a strategy of “gender mainstreaming” in the country, a suite of policies that aimed to empower Afghan women.

What a travesty.

In the 60s before the ouster of King Mohammed Zahir Shah women in Kabul were free to wear western clothes, go to university and pursue professional careers. The king outlawed honor killings of wayward daughters. But that was in the capital and other large cities. Out in the countryside, where the mullahs reigned it was very different. And when they took over the country women in the cities were treated just like women in the country.

A view of Afghanistan from 40 years ago.
