Fair enough assessment. I happen to disagree. We went in on Granada [Reagan’s only military excursion], wiped the place clean and got out. Maybe it wasn’t militarily or anti-terrorism strategic enough.

We belonged in the Philippines, they developed their own relatively healthy republic, and asked us to leave so we left.

We belonged in Panama. Jimmah Cartah gave the keys to the store. A few years later we had to engage militarily because we WEREN’T there to keep an eye on things.

Sometimes we belong. Sometimes we don’t belong.

Iow … Roman forts for the 21st century.
***Interesting characterization, but with airplanes, smart bombs and machine guns.

Problem is they never come out of the hills and it would be like the French Foreign Legion.
***If they keep to the hills and don’t kill Americans, I’m okay with that.

Now … heh … if I was running things the purpose of a “pull out” would be to get them feeling safe enough to come down from the hills …
***I wouldn’t do it that way, I’m okay with pushing the jerks into the hills and keeping them there.

where they could again be killed much easier and in larger numbers.
***Well, that’s one approach.

You see, if there’s hills then others besides the bad guys can potentially hide in them.
***That’s okay with me as long as they’re shooting each other rather than Americans. AmericaFirst policy.

They don’t ever stay in the hills. But even if they did as long as they were there we would have to be there.

So it’s stay forever (while they fester and grow) or you have to kill them, preferably before they’ve got kids. You can be honorable but you cannot, must not, be nice.

To be feared while being seen as being honorable is certainly the best to be hoped for.

To be seen as nice is about isn’t as bad as it gets but it’s not far off. Folks don’t fear nice people.

About the worst is to be a mealy mouthed sort of nice (woke, PC) and duplicitous all at once … which is what American progressives (be they DNC or quisling RNC) have mostly become.

I don’t mind sticking around for a LONG time, across multiple administrations. What I got my eye on is what Biden ridiculously called an “over the horizon” capability against terrorism. And in my view it’s only terrorism against Americans, an AmericaFirst policy.

I don’t think Trump would have done things as badly had the election not been stolen … but whatever he would have done aside he ended up leaving a proverbial turd on Biden’s plate.

That said it is ALL on Biden and company that they spread the poop all over the walls!

And considering who may be possibly pulling their strings … they may be doing it on purpose (not because of being incompetent).

The ChiComs will work with the cartels to get their fentanyl into our country …would they work with the Taliban to take advantage of the chaos these “refugees” (isn’t it odd that Muslim refugees seem to be unaccompanied men of roughly military service age?) may cause even as Biden is seemingly fast tracking them while leaving Americans to fend for themselves?

We’re pretty much at the point that if we want some credibility in the world, it will take helicopters.

The inability of Lloyd Austin, Thoroughly Modern Milley, Tailspin Taylor and the other beribboned buffoons of the Potemtagon to adapt swiftly and effectively to ground conditions that are changing hour by hour is as telling as anything. It is not just that General Milley and the Joint Buffoons of Staff cannot plan; they cannot execute...

***I don’t think he did that. He had a good plan in place, there was an article here on FR that said all Biden had to do was NOTHING. Instead, Biden put his tweak on the parameters so that no Trump-grateful afghan patriots would be first in line but rather future democraps.

That said it is ALL on Biden and company that they spread the poop all over the walls!
***I say that.

And considering who may be possibly pulling their strings … they may be doing it on purpose (not because of being incompetent).
***I think Biden did it on purpose. There’s an article here on FR where Biden is quoted as saying ‘frack that’ about an orderly evacuation because Nixon got away with it in Vietnam.

The ChiComs will work with the cartels to get their fentanyl into our country …would they work with the Taliban to take advantage of the chaos these “refugees”
***I agree with putting that in quotes, these are faux-refugee terrorism activists.

(isn’t it odd that Muslim refugees seem to be unaccompanied men of roughly military service age?)
***Not so odd when you realize this was done on purpose.

may cause even as Biden is seemingly fast tracking them while leaving Americans to fend for themselves?
***Biden went out of his way to generate this clusterfrack because it’s so far away from the 2024 re-election campaign and he’ll rely on the MSM to provide cover.

“People forget that the left has long lamented that the US was the lone super power. The competition was never going to catch up, so the US had to be brought down a bunch of notches.”

You totally nailed it! That describes EVERY Socialist Democrat I’ve ever talked to! They TRULY believe this!

‘Strength Through Power’ is anathema to them! Grrrr!

It is not just that General Milley and the Joint Buffoons of Staff cannot plan; they cannot execute. Compare the 2,500 Americans evacuated from Kabul over this last week to the 7,000 Americans and allies choppered out of Saigon in just nineteen hours. Can Milley do anything in nineteen hours other than call his tailor and order up his next row of ribbonry?

It's beyond catastrophic... I don't have a word to properly describe it. But some heads need to roll.

Everyone - Greeks, Germans, Chinese - knew where this was headed (and very quickly) ...everyone except the decadent, decayed hyperpower in nominal control of the timeline.

On Friday the chump who serves as US Defense Secretary was asked why his US troops at Kabul Airport couldn't do (as the French, British and others are doing) and fan out into Kabul and surrounding provinces and extract their nationals. Mr Austin replied that American forces don't have "the capability" - and, as a hack lobbyist formerly on the board of Raytheon, he should know.

Milley is a disgrace. But I find Austin even more a disgrace. How did this nothing ever manage to rise so high?!

To the tune of the theme song of the Mickey Mouse Club show from the 1950s:

M-I-L-L-E-Y M-O-U-S-E Miley Mouse; Milley Mouse, the guy is really truly quite a louse....
