Meltdown of a superpower? We all know the meltdown is not occurring with the superpower, only with its leaders. Unfortunately, the nation has decided to go with its leaders into destruction. Nation of laws, don’t you know. Lemmings.
there is no question that key elements of American national power have gone over to China’s side: the Chamber of Commerce, Hollywood, the NBA, not to mention the Wuhan Institute of Virology’s protectors at the CDC and NIH; oh, and the Five Eyes intelligence alliance, at least two of whom have checked out with respect to anything to do with China...
To be simply feared by your enemies is in the long term a good thing. To be feared but held to be honorable is, of course, best ,.. but about the worst is to be thought of as “nice”.
But more specifically, our military initially kicked the Taliban’s butt just like the Soviets seemed to initially kick their butt; but, we didn’t learn the lesson the Soviet example should have taught and let them get away into the mountains to fester.
What makes this all the more frustrating is the the Northern Alliance knew about using the terrain because they’d long depended upon the use of it themselves.
How hard would it have been to have won the easy ground less fast and set up kill boxes behind different groups to annihilate them as they flee, not into the hills Willy nilly but like the old tiger traps where behind them were our boys making lots of noise and the kill boxes that seem quiet?
Could we have counted on tactical knowledge from the Northern Alliance at all?
Of course to pull that off it means giving up delusions about the strategic use of AirPower in a purely tactical theatre.
If we have to build “Embassy + AirBase —> EmBASEeees” then we don’t belong there.

I question that assumption. Its looking like our military cadre will do whatever its paymasters tell them to do, no matter how self-defeating it is. We are being set up for a big fall.
Because they have no HONOR, along with 99% of Congress, the professions, and the money power.
The restoration of HONOR, without which our nation will perish, will not be achieved using the tools of "our democracy".
Are you going to post that on every thread on FR?
