Complain to the brass about this advocate. Unacceptable.
Prayers up.
Really, contact some decent media and give them the name of this advocate. Let’s dox and cancel someone for a change.
bttt
You do have rights you know.
You CAN refuse treatment, and demand release to home for Hospice care.
Ventilator I have been told by experts is a death sentence.
[[I asked about the Federal “Right to Try” law -— they don’t believe in that or allow that either.]]
I am not sure they have a right to deny it-
Darn — I read an article just this week where a doctor said if the hospital’s patient advocate wouldn’t do what you asked to call him directly and he will put you in touch with a patient advocate that will help you.
I’m so sorry, but now I can’t remember where I saw that. Hopefully another FReeper will remember.
Prayers up!
I will pray for her. Have you thought of contacting the governor’s office regarding the hospital’s refusal to allow the antibody treatment? I would also contact the authority having jurisdiction over hospitals in Texas. They might like to know about proven health treatments being denied to patients.
you might have a problem with the right to try issue because in order for it to be available, all avenues apparently have to have been exhausted first- ie- nothing is working- so patient has ‘right to try’ something not yet approved-
While it sounds good- it’s a word game with them- they can side step it maybe by claiming that the patient hasn’t ‘exhausted all conventional treatment options’ first
I dunno- might ave a hard time fighting it- legally- but I’m not a lawyer- so coudl be wrong-
“
Who qualifies for Right to Try?
To be eligible for Right to Try, a patient must meet the following conditions:
Be diagnosed with a life-threatening disease or condition;
Have exhausted approved treatment options;
Be unable to participate in a clinical trial involving the eligible investigational drug, as certified by a doctor, who is in good standing with her licensing organization and will not be compensated directly by the manufacturer for so certifying; and
Give written informed consent regarding the risks associated with taking the investigational treatment.
What is a life-threatening disease or condition?
Federal law defines a life-threatening disease or condition as: “Diseases or conditions where the likelihood of death is high unless the course of the disease is interrupted” (21 CFR 312.81).”

Her chances of recovery decreases dramatically on a ventilator. Prayers for up.
Am praying. May I ask her first name, please?
The monoclonal antibodies are now available in all states if you do become infected. You can find a location near you by using this website.
If you scroll down to "Find Infusion Location", you can use your location to see what's available near you.
I know someone personally who died when the hospital did exactly what you are describing. The hospital basically trapped them, refused treatment, they were put in a coma and on a vent, then died.
As far as I am concerned the hospital killed them.
Nice to know!
Are 'health care' systems still cashing in when they deploy ventilators???
Because of HIPPA, I would prefer to only say “T”
Some of the front line doctors live in TX. Maybe they can help. Ryan Cole is one of them. https://covid19criticalcare.com/
Make sure you make every request in writing.
That alone will make them wonder what you’re up to
Praying for your team member!
