In impromptu situations, he wanders off and someone has to go catch him; or Jill has to tell him to face the audience and ‘Pay attention, Joe’.

Likely the script is written and they will have several takes until they can get one without obvious errors. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if in the next few days someone can find where they spliced sections together while attempting to make it look live.
