And to top it off today the United States abandoned its citizens in Afghanistan.
They told them to go hide. Not even the airport is safe.

I recall many discussion on FR about whose side the military would be on in CWII.

I spect you are right about the military, but I have seen some things that also lend a healthy credence to my POV. I had the misfortune of serving during the Carter presidency as a senior company grade officer, later promoted to junior field grade officer. What I saw was a general officer corps COMPLETELY disconnected from the military mission so they could please the CIC’s obsessive penchant for cutting the defense budget. It was obscene the things they did to show how they could pinch pennies better than any other general. We peons mocked the flag officers. AND were utterly sick at the behavior of President Peanut to first enable the hostage crisis by signaling weakness, then permit it to continue to humiliate our country.
So they are going to be hostages for 1288 days? Makes 444 seem a lot better.
