Julie Hartman: Leftism, a Way to Attain "Cheap Grace"
YouTube/Julie Hartman.com ^ | August 1, 2020 | Julie Hartman

Julie Hartman argues that the reason why many people today identify with the left is not primarily because they are truly attracted to the left's policies, but because leftism provides people with a way to attain "cheap grace" -- to claim that they are helping others without having to make any real sacrifice of their own. She says that many on the left "advocate for destructive, irresponsible policies, get praise for doing it, and then insulate themselves from the consequences [of those policies].”

This is a 5-minute video from the Dennis Prager show.

I heard this young woman (21) the other day when she guest hosted for Mike Gallagher.

I am not sure of the original air date or publication date for this, but it sounds as if it was last summer.

“a way to attain “cheap grace” — to claim that they are helping others without having to make any real sacrifice of their own”

This explains at least in part why the majority of liberals are also atheists.....the ones I know anyway.

The theory is spot on.I happened to hear her on Prager and she is well spoken and intelligent as were the other young fill in hosts. There is still some hope.

She is exactly right. Ask one of these people what they are doing with their own time and money and they glare at you.
I really like the phrase “cheap grace” too!

Leftists:

- Naïve
- Narcissistic
- Generous with other peoples wealth

...leads to cringe virtue signaling all day long, so long as they believe it’s inline with the herd. When challenged alone they’re also COWARDS.

The hookup culture is fueled by pornography. Men raised on porn become devoid of any ability to want to be intimate with one partner. That’s why they can have random sex encounters without any feelings towards the woman. Today, record numbers of women are now watching porn and the same thing is starting to be seen with them. They can have random partners without care. They are now less satisfied with their mates bodies and looks, they are now becoming disappointed with their mates sexual organs. What average man can compete with the well hung studs in those porn clips? Fantasy, lust, unfaithfulness is destroying America thanks to porn.

She says that the point of the “Hate has no home here” signs in front of houses is to say “I’m better than you,” but that’s nothing new.

I saw it first with the “This Car Brakes For Animals” bumper stickers that I remember appearing (where I live anyway) back in the 1974-1975 time frame. Same message.

My recollection is that the “Baby On Board” bumper stickers appeared first, in maybe 1972 or 1973, and the “This Car Brakes For Animals” bumper sticker appeared after.

I’m not sure that’s really the beginning though. For all I know, wearing a Knights of Columbus lapel pin might be taken as the same thing, depending on your point of view.

White people going to Asian restaurants and eating with chopsticks. Do they eat with chopsticks at home? People who drink water all the time. People who wear masks when driving alone or walking alone on the streets and sidewalks. I call it their holier-than-thou quotient. Only thing is you can’t be holier than thou unless you can demonstrate your holiness. Driving a Prius, riding a bike, eating sushi with chopsticks, solar panels on your house, saying namaste to people, conspicuous hydration, BLM flags and Hate doesn’t live here signs. Bernie or Biden bumper stickers, COEXIST bumper stickers, there is an unlimited number of possible progressive slogans to put on bumper stickers.
I increase my holier-than-thou quotient by driving an electric car and having solar panels. I don’t get any credit for never using grocery bags, even reusable bags. I empty my cart right into my car. When I get home I carry things in the same way I took them off the shelf. I use an electric mower. I feed my food waste to dogs and chickens.

Look at me! I have virtue.

I heard her fill in for Dennis Prager this week. She sounds like an intelligent well spoken young lady.

She shared a story of how she told someone she has a summer job working for Dennis Prager, and whoever she told this to, was shocked that she would work for someone like him. Apparnetly that other person was more liberal, and it’s beyond comprehension that she could have a summer job with a conservative talk show host.

yes pornography is a scourge of modern society.

i don’t partake, personally, but have heard pornography has gotten more extreme and violent and degrading nowadays.

And with it being so available on the internet, more people are exposed far more often to pornography than in past decades. You don’t even have to send away for a dirty magazine or go to a dirty bookstore anymore.

The days when somebody might sneak a peak at a Playboy magazine are long gone. Nowadays all the sex anyone can imagine, is available 24.7 online.

For years I’ve explained such thinking with a dubious Scripture reference, that Jesus clearly said in the Beatitudes “Petition Caesar to take your neighbor’s money and property at the point of a gun so that it might be passed through a wasteful bureaucracy and rendered unto crony contractors who give crumbs to the poor and ye shall be blessed.”

Leftism is basically the Social Gospel movement that converted liberal Protestant denominations into political activists in the late 19th century, early 20th. They discarded anything that wasn’t good works or social reform. Unsurprisingly it originated in New England among the heirs of Puritanism.

“Apparnetly that other person was more liberal, and it’s beyond comprehension that she could have a summer job with a conservative talk show host.”

Funny, because I remember when Dennis Prager started in L.A. radio with “Religion on the Line” and he used to explain to listeners that he was a Robert Kennedy, Gene McCarthy liberal. He never changed despite the confused mess that “conservatism” has become over the years... neoconservatives, of which Dennis is a mild example, influenced people to redefine a lot of mainstream 1960s liberalism as “conservatism”. It’s why we so often hear the idea that JFK or MLK were conservatives, which would have surprised them and shocked Russell Kirk.
