The real Olympics died when they started letting pros play. It’s been all downhill since then. Stopped watching long ago.

It makes me wonder what NBC is going to do in 6 months with the Beijing Olympics if things in the next 6 months go in the s***ter between China and the US (or the rest of the world). What if China invades Taiwan? What if ANOTHER virus comes flying outta China? Any number of things can happen.
The folks at NBC are probably sweating bullets since they KNOW things could go south at any moment between the US and China. AND...they’ve already signed contracts to broadcast the Olympics to US audiences through 2032.
I saw about 15 minutes of fencing while I was at a bar. It has not been on any TV at my home.
Time zone is not the issue. We have had Olympics in Japan before, and in Korea, no problem since the networks always show key events in prime time anyway. Never had this kind of drop-off for Asian Olympics.
The opening ceremonies was pathetic and poorly attended by the athletes. The closing ceremonies was worse and almost no athletes attended. The French stole the show with their short video. They actually seemed to want the games.
What would happen if they put on the games and no one cared? Well, we came very close to finding out.
Did not watch one single minute of that crap. Zero interest.
I haven’t watched the NFL in about 15 years. I don’t watch any pro sports.
Another thing, who designed these Olympics? Stupid bland colors and fonts made for terrible visuals unlike Rio. It didn't seem like a special event.
The best Olympic competition I can remember recently was when the Pros played Hockey. Not all pros are bad.
