Aproximately 59 million Americans spanning five states can't buy Dell's high-end Alienware brand desktop PCs "due to power consumption regulations."

When one goes to the Dell Alienware online configurator to buy an Aurora R12 gaming desktop, a special notice appears which reads:

This product cannot be shipped to the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Vermont or Washington due to power consumption regulations adopted by those states. Any orders placed that are bound for those states will be canceled.

Next time you are by check out all the bottom farmland covered with solar panels. These work especially well in VT. They worked real well all winter when they spent 3 months covered in snow.

I see those all the time as well, I’m tempted to stop and write under “Black lives matter” ‘But only if a white cop is involved’. Same with those stupid “Bernie” bumper stickers. That should be “Bernie...because communism only killed 100 million people and it should be given another chance”

Gotta save that power so George Soros can run around in his Tesla.

“Order it in a neighbouring state and pick it up personally.”

Not so easy in Hawaii, but you could get someone elsewhere to buy it and send it to you I suppose.

I have developed a new disrespect for the law. That’s all from Covid. It’s a shame, they might have thought things through better, but I guess they are too stupid to do that.

My solution depends on having a friend who doesn’t mind ordering for you.

I know that you could run into troue in California, where you’d have to contend with intra-state border guards, looking for contraband like gaming computers.

Check out eBay. Not only will the sellers ship anywhere, many of them are located IN California.

You're talking about the states’ adherence to the Constitution? My state requires you to explain your “immediate need for a firearm” (not an exact quote) before they'll issue you a firearms permit.

Taking bets—will it be years or months before these governments are going door to door confiscating rice cookers like Castro did, because they didn’t make enough electricity to run them, then going door to door 30 years or so later to hand them out (to different people), as generous gifts from a loving government?

So California, Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Vermont and Washington are going to all by themselves save the planet.
LOL

Buy Sager instead. It’s better hardware and they do all their support in-house, not outsourced to Manila.

Waiting for these states to ban the sales of power-hungry electric vehicles.

If your house has solar power then you would not be taxing the power grid. I assume there is no exeception for these people.

I glanced around a bit on Dell’s website. There are no restrictions for similar powered desktops. It looks to me if a OEM calls the computer a gaming computer it can’t exceed an arbitrary power consumption levels.
