Ha ha ha! Somebody on the left just noticed that NPR is left-biased as well as race and sex obsessed.
NPR's Brilliant Self-Own - National Public Radio complains about a media figure who tells people "what their opinions should be" and uses political "buzzwords"
Man, I can’t help myself, I’m actually beginning to like this new Matt Taibbi:
Yesterday’s NPR article, “Outrage As A Business Model: How Ben Shapiro Is Using Facebook To Build An Empire,” is among the more unintentionally funny efforts at media criticism in recent times.
The piece is about Ben Shapiro, but one doesn’t have to have ever followed Shapiro, or even once read the Daily Wire, to get the joke. The essence of NPR’s complaint is that a conservative media figure not only “has more followers than The Washington Post” but outperforms mainstream outlets in the digital arena, a fact that, “experts worry,” may be “furthering polarization” in America. NPR refers to polarizing media as if they’re making an anthropological discovery of a new and alien phenomenon.
After first explaining what NPR’s complaint isn’t about (peddling misinformation, Trumpism or opinion disguised as news) he gets to the heart of the matter:
The main complaint, instead, is that:
By only covering specific stories that bolster the conservative agenda (such as… polarizing ones about race and sexuality issues)… readers still come away from The Daily Wire's content with the impression that Republican politicians can do little wrong and cancel culture is among the nation's greatest threats.
NPR has not run a piece critical of Democrats since Christ was a boy. Moreover, much like the New York Times editorial page (but somehow worse), the public news leader’s monomaniacal focus on “race and sexuality issues” has become an industry in-joke. For at least a year especially, listening to NPR has been like being pinned in wrestling beyond the three-count. Everything is about race or gender, and you can’t make it stop.
I repeat, ha ha ha! I suppose next NPR will be telling us that we have to rename gypsy moths
and Asian carp
due to racial slurs or something. Oh wait…I’m too late.
Oh well, as some wag noted, Car Talk was good…20 years ago.
And now, in recognition of Chicken Day, I offer up this fluffy ball of feathers, please feel free to enjoy it before its image and breed are banned due to whiteness and privilege by association.
Our prayers continue today for Succotash, who checked in with us yesterday and is now home with palliative care, and pbird, who’s still in hospital.

NPR takes their marching orders from the Democratic Party.
Matt Taibbi and Glenn Greenwald might be the last two “honest liberals” left.
Yup, Taibbi is a talented writer too.
“By only covering specific stories that bolster the conservative agenda...”

I agree with this author. What is so bizarre is not that they would resent those not on the left from doing what they do, but that they are willing to tip their hand that this is an actual technique in the media.
It probably means they are in fact desperate and afraid by what they see.
In their minds, THEY should be the only ones who selective reporting. While the effect can be “polarizing”, the selectivity is actually a grid. Run the stories that are pro democrat, and omit/avoid the stories that are negative for democrats, but omit/avoid the stories that are pro republican and run the stories that are negative to republicans.
I enjoy Charlie Kirk too.
Another unusually smart young man that challenges our brainwashed youth while shredding leftists along the way.

I subscribe to Matt, Glenn and Wesley Yang - Year Zero.
Wrong premise. Its not a “new” Taibbi. Because when he says something consistent with his leftist views tomorrow, then will you not like him? Lol. Conservatives do this all the time. So excited when they think the cool kids agree with them.
Disclaimer. Matt Taibbi is a sincere journalist and I read and admire him. I don’t care that I won’t always agree with him. Like I did with Hitchens, Paglia and others.

I respect your opinion, but have to disaree. I think it is a “new” Matt Taibbi. And it’s not sincere. It’s all about the money.I just can’t get past all the virulent, hateful anti right wing articles of his past. Don’t remember a single even handed article he ever wrote until this “new” phase.
I can consider that he may see a need to fill a vacuum and is taking advantage of it, to at least some degree. But I think another part of what he sees is the “New” left is totally ignoring the true principles of the First Amendment to be able to squash their enemy, the right.
And he seems to believe in the First Amendment as written. In other words, a more old fashion liberal.

I sure hope you’re right. I wonder if he’s been fired from Rolling Stone yet. I’m old enough to remember when they actually published articles from P J O’Rourke and Tom Wolfe.
That’s the beauty of Substack, and why the gatekeepers in big media hate it.
