A Question. I first need to emphasize that I am NOT trying to scare anyone. With that said...
Approximately 1:20 pm at a Western NY Carry Out (7/11) I sign on the glass entrance door reads:
"Exact Change or CC Only - we have no coins!"
While inside, I heard the cashier state to the customer ahead me "The banks are out of coins!"
Has anyone heard anything similar in their area?
This has been an issue for about a year. Every store I’ve gone into since last spring has had that sign up. I am in New England.
And cash.
Multiple signs around town on store fronts of “Cash not accepted. Debit or Credit only!”
Local Chickafila is sending Social Media posts out looking for change.
All the coins are sitting in people’s homes in jars. All the banks around here took out their coin counting machines that were accessible by the public.
You need another bank. My bank used to love me bringing coins in. I horde them now. Lol.
I have coins! Shiite loads
Who then is backing the coins, because they do not have value as metal (not much anyway)?
Banks are not out of coins. Banks dont want to pay for the manual transportation of coins. My nephew works for Loomis. Banks are reducing or stopping receiving coins all together.
Old Aggie joke modified for this crowd:
A Democrat and conservative were in the men's room at the urinals. The conservative said to the Democrat "there's a nickel in this urinal". When the conservative finished up, the Democrat threw a quarter into the urinal that had the niclel in it, the conservative asked him why. As the Democrat reached into the urinal to recover the nickel and quarter, he explained that it's not worth a nickel to stick his hand into a urinal.
so Biden is taking his 10% in quarters and dimes
That 1962 nickel is silver I think and Canada doesn’t use the cent anymore so are Canadians spending them in the US ,LOL
I need quarters to do laundry, and when I went to the bank at the beginning of the pandemic, they would only give me one roll of quarters. I haven’t had any trouble getting quarters or other coins in change at the stores, though.
My local WalMart is not accepting cash at it’s self checkout machines. Debit card or credit card only.
This happened one before late last year, and a cashier told me at the time that production lines at the U.S. mints had ceased because of the Chinese virus.
Can I put it on s charge card? At least I’ll get air miles (I won’t use).
Yes. Its not new.
It’s been going on for over a year.
I haven’t noticed any shortage.
Obviously.
“I actually think this is part of the war on cash. It’s a commie plot to incrementally get rid of cash transactions.”
Wrong,
Cash is disappearing because our bonehead population only wants to use plastic.(gotta get those frequent flyer kickbacks)
So the financial sector is reciprocating. (Supply & Demand)
Early stages of NESARA/GESARA?
This was a problem around here while the banks had their lobbies closed and were drive through only because nobody could bring in their coins and they weren’t accepting them in the drive through.
Then they realized the stupid and changed their policies and the coin shortage was over.
We usually empty our pocket change into a coffee can and haul it in every few months, but it was about 9 months of stupid and we had quite a backlog built up. Had the same issue with bottle/can returns also.
