Immigration ‘amnesty’ could be career-ending vote for Senate Democrats: Poll

As the Senate, nudged along by West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, moves to include immigration for millions of illegal immigrants in an infrastructure bill, new polling shows it could be a career killer for several Democrats up for reelection next year.

Data provided to Secrets by the Federation for American Immigration Reform found most blame President Joe Biden for the border crisis and that a large majority believes that providing a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants in the legislation would only make the crisis worse.

One early draft of the infrastructure bill would put $150 billion to immigration policies, including the path to citizenship.

*MANCHIN SAYS SUPPORTS IMMIGRATION REFORM IN THE BUDGET DEAL

— Steven Dennis (@StevenTDennis) July 14, 2021 Overall, 57% agreed that “such legislation would encourage more people to enter the country illegally and make an already difficult situation worse.”

The poll, conducted by Zogby Analytics, showed that voters in four critical states where Democrats face reelection, Arizona, Georgia, New Hampshire, and Nevada, would be far “less likely” to send their senators back to Washington if they backed the scheme.

It was a warning sign to Sens. Mark Kelly of Arizona, Raphael Warnock of Georgia, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, and Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada should they support a change to Senate rules to pass an infrastructure bill that includes amnesty with a simple majority.

In the four states, voters rejected that so-called budget reconciliation plan, 48% to 37%.

In Arizona, if Kelly supports the change, 49% of voters would be “less likely” to vote for him versus 26% who would be “more likely.” For Warnock, it’s 50% less likely to 29% more likely. For Shaheen, it’s 50% to 21%, and for Cortez Masto, it’s 47% to 28%.

Zogby also tested the impact on Manchin, who is not up for reelection, and West Virginia voters feel the same way, with 55% “less likely” to support him and 29% “more likely.”

Just today, Manchin appeared to signal that he would support sticking immigration reform into the infrastructure bill. He is considered the key vote in whether the legislation moves forward or not.

FAIR President Daniel Stein told Secrets, “The reckless policies of the Biden administration have created an unprecedented illegal immigration crisis. Voters in states with Democrats up for reelection are very clear: Any senator that yields to pressure from open borders radicals, and resorts to legislative trickery to gain amnesty for millions of illegal aliens, does so at his or her political peril.”

The poll is the latest to show overwhelming anger at the Biden administration’s bumbling of the border and his effort to tear down the restrictions that worked under former President Donald Trump. The 63% that Zogby found blaming Biden was echoed in a Rasmussen poll that found that over 60% believe the border is in a crisis.

The issue has also nicked Vice President Kamala Harris. She was assigned to deal with the crisis, but most voters believe she has failed.

Amnesty, however, is a different issue. Democrats have long hoped to provide a pathway for millions of illegal immigrants who crossed the border as younger migrants. A prior reform effort failed miserably.

But with nearly 190,000 people crossing the border just last month and expectations that over 1 million will in Biden’s first year, people are growing restless, with 72% telling Zogby that the nation needs to take action “to end it.”

The Dem donors will take care of any Dem who votes for this and loses re-election. Dems always push their agenda. Reps always push to make themselves wealthy.

Sacrifice a few seats now for a permanent majority in less than a decade. Not a bad deal for the Rats.

As the Obamacare vote was. And yet, a decade later, Obamacare is still here and isn’t going anywhere.

Democrats play chess, the long game. Republicans play with themselves.

The only hope we have is that the Senate Parliamentarian won’t allow an amnesty enacted by Reconciliation. It should be a no-brainer. We’ll see.

Is the writer insane. They give amnesty, they don’t have to cheat ever again using Dominion, Mail In Voting and Drop Boxes. Republicans will simply be outbred by everyone else and lose just on shear numbers.

Georgia, Texas and Florida are a done deal if this happens.

Amen.
Cronyn and Graham and other Republicans are all in on amnesty and citizenship, using “compassionate” DACA 30 year old “children” as a first step foot in the door.

Does anyone think the dims wouldn't sacrifice the senate for a term or two in order to get a couple million more voters??

They're sacrificing pawns in order to advance across the board.

Our side really doesn't think.

You talking about Republican politicians or the voters?

If you’re talking about the politicians, I wouldn’t say most, but definitely enough. Sadly for them, they think they’ll keep their positions if they support this nonsense. They too will be taken out. They think playing nice will get them something. When all that is happening is they’re being used and will be tossed out as soon as possible.

I don’t think Republican voters are in any way, shape or form about amnesty of any kind. But then again, what do we matter to the Graham’, Rubio’s, Thune’s, Cornyn’s, Barasso’s, Ernst’s, Shelby’s, etc etc etc? We’re just peons that are there for the votes and to pay taxes.

Will the amnesty recipients vote Republican in ten years?

Until an opinion is reached on that question, no amnesty will be granted.

The Democratic Party is a party of principles:
Principle #1: victory matters.
Principle #2: power matters.
Principle #3: money matters.
Principle #4: sex matters.
Principle #5: nothing else really matters.

The Deplorables want a Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement bill, missing since 1986 ONE TIME amnesty. Since that amnesty was granted already, a second amnesty is off the table. What remains is the enforcement the Democrats have disallowed since then.

The List of Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, missing since 1986 goes like this -
1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural parents);
5) end work visas;
6) 10-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (40 years to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population);
7) Set up an illegal aliens’ victim restitution fund.

Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport, and remove colonizadors from our welfare rolls.

2041

Señor Senators:

My mother hauled me over Trump’s border wall in 2022.

If it was logical idea to give amnesty in 2021 to children illegally brought into the USA, then it should be logical in 2041.

2061

Señor Senators:

My mother hauled me over the bipartisan border wall in 2043.

If it was logical idea to give amnesty in 2021 & 2041 to children illegally brought into the USA then it should be logical in 2061.

Trust me Señor Senator, illegal invasion of the USA will stop when the poverty in the USA exceeds anyplace in other parts of Latin America. We’re close to the end at this point in time.

“The tax would be 2% on the net worth above $50 million with an additional 1% tax on net worth above $1 billion.”

“The wealth tax would raise approximately
1.0% of GDP per year ($210 billion relative to a $21.1 trillion GDP in 2019).”

https://elizabethwarren.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/saez-zucman-wealthtax-warren-v5-web.pdf

If any amnesty is granted, future welfare recipients will flood the country, requiring Warren’s wealth tax threshold to be drastically lowered so even dozens of senators will have to file and pay a federal wealth tax.

NY Times via google:

“Sep 5, 2017 — There are roughly 800000 current beneficiaries of the DACA program. ... The current age of DACA recipients ranges from 16 to 35 years old.”

I don’t know the 39-year old child’s name.
