Local media reports that the ‘north Toledo mural has been reduced to rubble’ after being struck by lightning. Fire and rescue responded to the site of the mural, but were unable to render aid to the collapsed wall featuring Floyd’s face.

It certainly looks blackened in some areas, as if burned, but does lightning ever actually strike the middle of a vertical brick wall? Could it have been some sort of manmade incendiary? Residents say the wall had begun to sag, so perhaps a Molotov or two delivered the coup de grâce . . .

I call BS. There's no sign of scorching anywhere on that structure and a lightning hit anywhere on that structure would have left significant soot and ash where energy traveled to ground. In fact, the lighting tower towards the street would have been the item to get hit if there was any truth to the story.

The story does say there was noticeable leaning to the facade prior to collapse. My guess is there was a lightning hit nearby and the concussion wave shook the wall down. Too bad, so sad.
