A Dewitt police officer is on paid administrative leave following an altercation at a Walmart in East Syracuse.
A controversial social media post shows the officer punching a woman in the face on July 4th in the store on Basile Road. Town of Dewitt officer, Rory Spain, whose been on the force three years, is on leave until an internal investigation is complete.

They want to sit in their cushy offices and let others deal with the theft and disruption in their stores. They keep their distance.

True story. My student assistant around 1999 was studying to be in law enforcement. She had a part time job as a KMart plain clothes security worker, mostly watching from views on cameras and then rushing to stop a theft or vandalism.
She stopped a guilty black woman just outside the doors who screamed and screeched, repeatedly punched her and bit her. Drew blood and required stitches.
They made the security worker have an HIV test as well as tetanus shot.
Happily, it was a negative test.
I believe the urban element has gotten WORSE since then.
Looks to me like a punch to the upper left shoulder. It also looks like to me like she tried to (or did) bite him right before.
Test for rabies!
Notice how suddenly compliant she was right after that. Officer did his job, while avoiding being bitten and without seriously harming the perp. Win-win.
