I had a similar experience this week with Delta, trying to book a flight while applying for a credit from a canceled trip last year. First, my wife tried to book the flight, but received an error message at the last step, telling her to call customer service. Then I tried it on the website, some parts of which were completely non-functional, including a page for entering credits which refused to apply them unless I also inputted a gift card (I had no such card.)
When I attempted to call the customer service number Wednesday afternoon, I was told that the waiting time would be seven hours. When I tried again late at night, I was told it was “under two hours,” but I ultimately gave up after I was on hold for more than three. There was not, at any point, a callback option offered.

I went to Phoenix last month- 4 hour wait for a rental care (that I had already PAID FOR)
Is there still that one company that let you pre-arrange everything and just go right to the car that would have the keys in it?
I was on hold four hours with American Airlines about two weeks ago.
People are having a hard time getting employees back after a a year of gubmint funded loafing. It’s hit everything.
Many. I am Wizard with Avis and Gold with Hertz. Both let you get the keys and drive off.
Enterptise Emerald also lets you do tgat.
You can join any of them for free before you rent.
thank you!
Many in my location are closed after 3:00 pm. Went to a popular local restaurant yesterday. TWO HOUR wait to be seated. Half of tables were empty. Told not enough staff to handle more customers.
I’m trying to tip well for the ones who work
Tech support at Verizon, T-Mobile, and others have hours-long wait times. I noticed this got worse during the Election Virus, and when I asked one Verizon rep, she blamed the virus. It made no sense, as all of the reps (she said) were working from home, so social distancing wasn’t an issue.
I just think corporations used Covid as an excuse to cut services and make money. Everything is “Covid Covid Covid” — even if it’s not.
We rented a car at Reagan National in DC and waited two hours for a car. Your story made me feel better.
Even airlines can’t compete with Uncle Sam wages.
I suggest not traveling by air. It is kind of simple. Stay home, vacation in your community, make friends with a few new President Trump supporters you did not know before. It is such a crazy idea, it might just work.
There’s a shortage of rental cars, but yes, if you have Budget Fastbreak, Hertz Gold, or a similar status, then you can avoid the wait.
I’ve had no problems with Enterprise renting cars even through the Wuhan Flu lockdowns. And I travel a lot.
Leftists amped up the pandemic as a weapon to destroy Trump by destroying the economy. they succeeded on both fronts. They got rid of Trump and now they’ve inherited an economy wreaked by their own machinations.

I’m exec platinum on American so my wait times are like 10 minutes - which is terrible compared to before but obviously way better than most! American also offers to just call you so you don’t have to wait on hold.
The problem with rental cars is they sold half their inventory last year and now due to chip issues can’t buy new ones so we’re working with 40% lower inventory for car rentals....plus massive record leisure demand....not any cars ready to just jump and go...
At least American has a call back option.
I called Delta this week. 9 hr wait! Fortunately family member at airport
So I told them walk to ticket counter to book flight. Service at Delta great. Avoid American. Highest rate of cancellations 4% and 25% late. Changed flight 6 times in one day. They don’t care about customers.
That's happening everywhere. Every restaurant I've gone to since the pandemic began and then ended is having this problem. Same for every retail establishment, grocery store and more.
Last night GF and I went to a favorite restaurant we hadn't been to in over a year. 30 minute wait for a table in a VERY large establishment where about 25% of the tables were occupied. They didn't have enough waitresses, cooks, staff to clear and clean tables or enough bartenders to meet the 25% capacity they had.
I thought under the conditions our waitress did very well and received a very nice tip. (That's my practice.)
