Here in Northeastern Oklahoma, the radio station that had carried Rush all these years, KRMG 102.3 FM, located in Tulsa, filled that same time slot with a show hosted by a cat named Mark Kaye (sp?), syndicated out of (one believes) Fort Lauderdale, Florida after Rush died.
It turns out that Mr. Kaye is a witty dude and all that, but his show is pretty much a game show. Make fun of Biden, play stupid radio games. All the time. Makes Hannity sound professional.
Something must be going on behind the scenes with Mr. Kaye because his show often isn't there, on the air. And guess who fills in - yes, The Erick Erickson show. (This "Backup" arrangement seems to be at the choice of the radio station management, which one believes to be the Cox media group.)
According to Erick Erickson:
Take the vaccine, if you don't you're the cause of the CCP virus.
Trump-supported local candidates all have something wrong with them.
Speaking of Trump, "There is a way out of this... blahblahblah"
Piece de resistance, "The 2020 election was not stolen... I'm just telling the TRUTH!"
Really some sick hsit.
I find the Buck and Clay duo tiresome after the first ten minutes.
Mark Kate?
I’ll look him up.
Thanks.
Erick Erickson was one of the original Salem Radio Trump bashers, a group that included Michael Medved and Hugh Hewitt.
Erickson was also the editor of Red State around the time that Salem bought it along with a host of other formerly conservative outlets.
Salem was basically hiring Bush GOP hacks as ‘conservative spokesmen’, I suppose with the idea that they could shape the debate and keep it safely within the bounds preferred by Jeb and Nikki and the rest of the establishment. Salem still dominates conservative media outlets, you just need to know what they are likely to be selling you.
Thanks, I haven’t listened to Travis and Buck as yet. I wonder how their ratings are holding up. That was one thing about Rush; he could be pedantic at times but it always seemed like you had a welcome friend on the other end of the line.
I find Styen’s laugh contagious... just can’t help but laugh along.
They should have just replayed all of Rush’s old early shows, starting from Day 1. I would have listened every day, all 3 hours worth.
Idiots had to put on dopes instead. Thank goodness I get Dan Bongino.
I recall when I first heard his name I envisioned a Norse Viking.
He turned out to be the Pillsbury Dough Boy.
Yep, in a New York minute. Or a New Hampshire minute, as the case may be. All I can think of is that Steyn does not want a full time show. Baffling.
Chris Plante is currently my favorite conservative radio host.
Yeah I’m in radio hell since Rush ....
Don’t really have a enjoyable lunch anymore.
He was one of the first “conservative” bloggers I followed. He used to have an interesting point of view and seemed knowledgeable but it seems like something happened...? Maybe the chase for dollars or something....? Kinda strange. He went from being approachable and reasonable to shrill and snarky. He seems to be expressing jealousy a lot of the time, right? But not getting specific about what is upsetting him, instead blaming us - the listeners, readers, or whatever we are - for not being dedicated enough, or pure enough. And then he goes full-on “never Trump” and that just puzzled the bedickens out of me. DT might not be everyone’s favorite person, but the alternative was HILLARY, for Pete’s sake!! I mean, what’s wrong with saying, “I’m not crazy about this Trump fellow, but we’ve got to keep Hilldog out of the White House!” ????
To me it seems like Gr0ver N9rquist’s thugs might have “talked to” a few people because they all started getting hysterical about DT at the same time. From where I was standing it seemed like they all lost their marbles.
Buck and Clay do a nice job although I am not that compelled to listen in. Quite frankly I’m not very driven to listen to just about any of them. Is anyone else reaching daytime talk show capitulation?
He’s one of those radio yakkers who thinks they’re smarter than their audience. That fat plick in Des Moines is another. Unlike Mark Levin or Mark Steyn, for instance, who actually are but don’t act like it.
Dan Bongino succeeded Rush on WJR in Detroit. I like Dan, as he isn’t afraid to sound the alarm about our situation (he’s talked a lot recently about our surveillance state, for example). He’s good at connecting dots. And he may be the hardest working man in conservative media at present.
What about the Rush replacements, the duo of Buck Sexton and Clay Travis? I haven’t heard them, any take on how effective they are? My view is that the only ones worth listening to currently are Tucker Carlson, Mark Steyn and Steve Bannon with the America’s Voice crew (including Rahim, Steve Cortez and Amanda Milius) but they do tend to be repetitive in their topics at times.
Talk radio, like Rock is dead. I blame Rush for dying without grooming anyone to keep his legacy alive. Now he’s just like Paul Harvey. Long career and gone. I really wished he would have taken James Golden “Bo Snerdly” more under his wing to take over his mic. I’ve listen to both Buck and Clay as well as Bongino. Now after 30 years of listening to talk radio day after day, I don’t even bother anymore. The standard of EIB will never be met.
Was just thinking about dear El Rushbo, this morning.
He left before being able to tell us ‘when to panic’.
:-(
Erick shouldn’t have been accepted back into the Trump movement after what Erick did in 2016. As soon as the November 3rd was over, he went back to attacking Trump.
I’m lost. Buck and his co-host have taken over the 11 to 2 slot and I don’t like them. I wish the powers that be would have left Todd Herman and Ken Matthews with Rush’s pearls of wisdom that are timeless thrown in during the program. Bottom line, there is NO replacement on God’s earth for Rush......:(
Well you made it longer than I did with Mark Kaye and your description of his goofy show is spot on. I’ll avoid Erickson if he’s even worse and it sounds like he is.
KRMG and fox23 have both moved to the left since the election.
I’ve been using the Tunein app on smartphone or iPads and listening to Dan Bongino. Just pick an out of town station that carries someone you like. I use WBAP out of Dallas.
I miss Rush.

He could have trained a couple dozen to do what he was doing. But probably had ego issues that prevented him from doing this.
I mean, I know Rush is greatly loved by many, but he certainly had a large ego. And I will leave it at that for now.
