Ostensibly saves gas while stopped in traffic.

Gotcha. Mine don’t have it. Thank goodness.

We’ve been looking for a truck for months. Been interesting watching the supply diminish, full lots changing to creative parking to obfuscate the lack of inventory.

The car companies state “fuel savings” but never actually how much. If you have this feature. I suggest calling for a price of a new starter. I have 2019 GMC Terrain and best $50 I ever spent was for a device to disable this pain in the rear.
I feel this is a major hazard potential. My son did not known the car had this and parked behind his mother in law and thought the car shit off. Took foot of brake and ran into the back of her car.

Vehicles didn’t used to have chips. And any half decent mechanic could quickly diagnose a problem without a computer. Remember the days you could diagnose a dozen different problems with a simple $5 vacuum gauge?

I have rented cars with that “feature”. I hated it. But the lane drift sensor and the cruise control that would slow you down when you came up on a vehicle in the same lane was cool.

Well, I couldn’t afford a Ford truck every 30 seconds for the past 34 years, but I have had four new or almost new Ford cars during the past 35 years - two of them for over 13 years each. Just put 200,000 miles on the Five Hundred. Since they stopped making cars, not sure what will be next.

The Feds want it because they think you save gas if the car shuts off at red lights.

For sure. I never change lanes unless I look at least twice in my mirror, so the lane change warning, while nice, is not that big a deal. But the adaptive cruise control? I like it.

Another thing. My 2021 VW has a setting that will send a signal and alert anytime I exceed a certain speed. Like 75 mph.

Great. That’s the same sort of technology that my mother had in her 1962 Buick. It had a speed warning buzzer that us little kids used to set at 30 miles an hour. Just to annoy Mom. In the 60 years since that car was new, I’ve never seen another car with that device. Now I have one.

New cars today have back up cameras. And they’re pretty much a requirement for when you are backing up into a parking place. No way can you look out the back window to see where you’re going and your mirrors aren’t always big enough to be helpful.

I have often opened my door to get a peek behind to see how much further I can back up. No more. My 2021 Volkswagen will now automatically set the emergency brake if the car is in gear and you open the door.

I love this car. I do. It rides great and the technology is truly amazing. There is so much good to say about this car.

But on the weekends when I get out my classic 74 El Camino, I really really appreciate the easy simplistic no nonsense drivability of that car.

If I lost every last dime tomorrow and ended up flat broke and had to make a choice between my Tiguan and my El Camino, I would happily take my El Camino.

There will be plenty of fake chips in these batches.

They have been working overtime as well.
