Amidst all the media joy, led by MSNBC, over the Allen Weisselberg indictment, a certain matter that should have been all too obvious seems to have conveniently eluded them. In this video, Professor Alan Derhshowitz brings that matter up very succinctly in a manner that even those not familiar with the finer points of the law will immediately understand.
I can understand why laughable demagogues such as MSNBC's Elie Mystal would spout off nonsense as you see here but what of the more "serious" legal analysts on the other networks? How could they have missed the obvious detail highlighted by Dershowitz. Okay, in the case of of CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin I can understand why he would have other things on his mind... or hand.

For those who may be curious about Dershowitz’s detail, he points out that the city of New York is charging someone with not paying federal taxes. That’s not how it works. So far, the IRS seems to see no problem. But the city is “helpfully” enforcing federal law. Because they have absolutely nothing better to charge him with.
To Avoid that bloated gloater and the stooge interviewer.
To cut to the chase:
a City attorney has no authority to indict anyone for failing to pay FEDERAL INCOME TAXES
Esp when the IRS has not even gone after him
And if they did, it would be by a letter demanding payment of back taxes with interest
So they are accusing Trump’s CFO of not paying taxes on his corporate car that he used while employed at Trump International. Meanwhile, Vance shows up driving his government issued vehicle. Wonder if he has paid personal income taxes taxes on the use of that vehicle?
It will be funny to watch Vance get Bitch-slapped in court, because that’s what is going to happen.

They all need to get back in their own lane and stay there.
Lawless tyrants the majority of them.
The innocent citizen gets scr#wed in court. He can sit there and look around - the DA is getting paid, as are his assistants. The judge is getting paid, the recorder is getting paid, the bailiff is getting paid. His lawyer is getting paid.
The only guy who is NOT getting paid is the innocent citizen, who is losing work time, incurring tremendous expenses and getting his reputation ruined.
And if he prevails? So what. He won’t be reimbursed, and the courtroom crew that did very for themselves with this farce certainly don’t have to give their ill-gotten gains back.
It’s a racket.
Would be great to see a list of all the political donations our PDJT has had to give over the years just to get NYC pols to do their jobs like review contracts, approve permits, and labor disputes.
Wonder how much of that money went into the Pols pockets?
Our PDJT has had to carefully follow the letter and line of the law for many years.
The Pols are the ones that disregard the law over and over again.

Is it normal to do a televised perp-walk, complete with handcuffs, for an old man accused of tax evasion? I thought handcuffs were used with people arrested for violent crimes, usually younger men.
Apartment and cars probably won’t end up guilty but tuition for grandchildren and not pay taxes on it is sketchy at best.
All of it is a FEDERAL matter. Outside the authority of a CITY district attorney
VSG President Trump prepaid his taxes based on a worse case outcome scenario from the IRS.
The prepayment was well before his announced run for President.
Any tax issue is under IRS Audit, and the Government has a pool of money on hand to cover back taxes
This is all kabuki theater. All for show for the democRATic base. None of this is real.
It is to give Vance a notch in his belt for going after the scalp of Trump and his CFO. The democRATic base and main stream media love this phony stuff.
