Economics professor praises Stalin as one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century

Asatar Bair, an assistant professor of economics at Riverside City College, is a self-described communist and supporter of Joseph Stalin. He recently praised the communist dictator as one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century.

Last week, Bair tweeted his support for Stalin, the communist revolutionary who ruled the Soviet Union from 1927 until he died in 1953.

Bair described Stalin as “a very successful revolutionary, a great contributor to Marxist theory,” as well as a “great listener and collaborator during discussions.” Bair added he “would certainly conclude that he [Stalin] is one of the great leaders of the 20th c [century]”.

Great doesn't necessarily mean good. He was able to keep the Nazis from taking over Russia but he also killed tens of millions of his own citizens.

Would the Nazis have killed that many if they had either taken over Russia or just pacified them and kept them out of the war?

The Nazis mistake was not going after the head. But Hitler had a soft spot for Stalin, he greatly admired him.

Some slavs were different than others, he didn't treat the Czechs and Slovaks that way. Hitler could have set up a puppet Ukrainian state that would have had the support of the majority of Ukrainians, it would have been an improvement over Stalin for them, he did the same for Slovakia.
