In all my time on this earth, I’ve never witnessed a more dramatic fall of credibility among a certain sector of the economy than what we’ve seen with teachers over the last years. Over the course of the COVID pandemic, we’ve gone from almost universal praise of teachers as essential workers to a vast number of parents who have lost their patience.
Worse, every bit of the downfall was self-inflicted. Teachers’ unions have abused the power they never should have had in the first place, making impossible demands while leaving students to flounder. Figures like Randi Weingarten have led the way, constantly moving the goalposts to ensure that schools they have control over remain closed.
With summer hitting and the pandemic being essentially over (even if some never want to let go), it would have been fair to assume that a return to normal in the fall was imminent. Of course, the teachers’ unions have other plans....
""The NEA will call for mandatory safe & effective COVID-19 vaccinations & testing for all students and staff before returning to face-to-face instruction in the fall, subject to medical exceptions[...]"...

BTW- Back-to-school shopping took a big hit last year. I'd love to be in a fly-on-the-wall at the sales meetings of kids' clothing merchants, locker paraphernalia merchants, etc.
Good, solid plan. Subject children to a vaccine that is more dangerous for them than the disease itself. I have always believed that people go into teaching because most of them are too mediocre to have real jobs.
The medical profession suffered the most dramatic loss of prestige. The teachers unions have always been derided.
No science behind the NEA demands.
If there were, their could be no business presently open without meeting the same demands as the NEA.
Obviously the rest the working world is not as dumb as the teachers.
More money in public schools now has negative utility. More money produces actually worse results, as it feeds broken systems and corrupt unions.
Time to start de-funding.
I agree. They are mostly low-IQ'd and completely uneducated. There is zero rigor in an education degree. If there was, there wouldn't be any graduates with degrees in education. A little know secret, many teachers, particularly in city schools, are functional illiterates.
With schools closed, our kids are getting smarter every day. Before long, somebody is likely to notice... :)
Of the people I know, those who are conservative (and the more conservative the more passionate they are) are desperate to get their kids back into schools and back into indoctrination.
It doesn’t make any sense to me.
Why is there such a rush on part of conservatives to have their kids indoctrinated into Marxism? This whole COVID has actually been a Godsend, a literal Godsend, and everybody I know has wasted it or actively refused it. I have not seen this much conservative activism in years and it’s all geared towards getting children back into government schools.
COVID was the one golden opportunity to permanently disrupt all of this Red ☭ indoctrination and we probably will not see an opportunity like this again in our lifetimes.
As a retired teacher who never belonged to the NEA, please do not lump all public school teachers with the democrat labor union, the NEA. Our local schools had regular (if modified) in-person classes for the entire 2020-2021 school year.
The modifications, if you are interested, were school breakfasts eaten in classroom instead of cafeteria, staggered recesses, and keeping desks a bit further apart. By the end of the school year most of the teachers I talked to thought the modifications were dumb.
“. I have always believed that people go into teaching because most of them are too mediocre to have real jobs.”
I know there are great teachers out there, but in college we used to call the people in the education program the ones that couldn’t pass anything else.
We tried to reopen schools safely since April 2020… — Randi Weingarten (@rweingarten) June 29, 2021.
Air Traffic Controllers, circa 1980.
If you love your kids, pull them out of these schools. I know that’s not realistic for all but the American educational system is PURE rot and a indoctrination prison for children. Demanding the jab poison and the masks is repulsive and against TRUE human rights of children.
Ranking from the bottom up, the very bottom is journalism students and the next step up is “education”.
tell the teachers to get back in their class rooms or lose their jobs.
Air traffic controllers learned.
Ya think Joe the drooling fool would do this?
Oh hell no, doctoro Jill the piece of crap who uses her hubby for her personal power would never allow this.
People Asking if Schools Will Ever Open
If you can’t dumb them down with books close the schools.
Karl Marx winks
Also, teachers are NOT essential not are they important in daily life.enough of the teacher respect card...most of them do not deserve it.
I use to have great regard for teachers.
NO more.
Why? Cause they teach socialism good capitalism bad.
Their unions are horse shit and they care less about the students and more about the liberal bent on life.
Home school so as to keep these Nags and wussies from corrupting your kids with some liberal homosexual agenda..
Teachers took in and grew the NEA to what it is today — huge and leftist.
(Gimmedat raise, days off and gold health insurance.)
Teachers stood silent when God was taken out of pubic schools.
(Gimmedat raise, days off and gold health insurance.)
Teachers allowed the NEA to turn leftist, feminist, queer and now CRT pushers.
(Gimmedat raise, days off and gold health insurance.)
Teachers’ union dues and NEA support leftist Democrat and their policies.
(Gimmedat raise, days off and gold health insurance.)
Teachers’ unions join with other unions to push votes for D’rats and union-preferred school board members.
(Gimmedat raise, days off and gold health insurance.)
Teachers’ role in swinging America left is undeniable and indefensible.
Some say Christmas shopping is going to be a disaster, too
