DETROIT — Ford Motor is significantly cutting its North American vehicle production in July due to an ongoing shortage of semiconductor chips impacting the global automotive industry.
The automaker said Wednesday it will idle or reduce production at eight plants, including six in the U.S., for varying periods of time next month and into early August due to the problem. Affected products range from the Ford F-150 and Ford Bronco Sport to the Ford Mustang and Ford Explorer.
I have two windows that now slide down. I’ve taped them temporarily but can’t go on like that. Oh, for roll up windows...and that little side window vent.
I believe there have been a few US plants that have scaled back production or temporarily suspended production. But honestly, I don't really pay much attention to the US car makers, so I couldn't give you specifics.
List Of Semiconductor Fabrication Plants
At one time, we had a wafer fab in Dallas that made chips only for the military. You needed special clearance to even get near it.
My 55 Chevy had no chips (well maybe some of the potato kind in the seat creases) and just vacuum tubes in the radio.
I'm pretty sure they use chips.
I’ll try,

It has affected EV makers including Tesla. Earlier this year, they cancelled shifts at their Freemont plant citing ‘parts shortages.’ Those parts were computer chips.
Tesla (and I believe others as well) have tried to put a Band-Aid on the problem with varying success by paying upfront, something automakers NEVER do with suppliers.

When Ford announced its earnings earlier this year, it disclosed it was halving production of its Mustang Mach-E because of the chip shortage. They’ve also had to halt production on a number of their trucks as well.

The Bronco also has leaky roofs so it’s not just chips.

Who knows for sure. I’ve read some articles that stated it was more of a logistics issue than a production issue.
There will be no chip shortage.
Frito Lay, union reach tentative deal to avoid strike
Wow, thanks, great find. Looks like the chicoms are trying to corner the market in chips and likely a bunch of other things
Chinese carmakers see overseas sales double as global chip shortage hits US, European rivals harder
Ping to my reply #57.
The globalists are backing all kinds of ways to stop our fossil fuel economy as well.
Something else to keep in mind: Deep State doesn’t want a mobile populace. Deep State doesn’t want people driving.
