I don't know if any of you were fans of the Sopranos but a friend made me aware of a new Sopranos movie that's coming out this fall, it's a Prequel, James Gandolfini's real life son plays the part of a young Tony Soprano. All the characters from the HBO show are in the movie except much younger versions...I usually don't go to theaters much anymore but this movie is being released on HBO MAX the same day it hits the theaters...
The Sopranos movies were just about all fantasy. Or at least a majority of it was.
The best mob movie of all was Gotti, I think it was HBO also.
Looking forward to this!
Casino was another good one.
BTW Frank Cullotta died just under a year ago.
I’ve never been all that fascinated with The Mafia and it’s innerworkings, but apparently, there are plenty of folks who still are. To me, it’s not much more than a Soap Opera for men. To each his own entertainment.
Anyways, we are very excited for the new prequel.
Godfather Part 1 and 2, followed by Goodfellas are at the top of my list..
I’ll see this. The Sopranos was a mixed bag, but the good points were very, very good.
Ya one and two were pretty accurate if your looking for that as well as goodfellas.
BTW, there is a youtube channel by Frank Cullotta where he used to answer questions.
That Chicago outfit was nasty. Dont know how it is these days.
You just about got that right.
What amazes me about the true life mob stories-Cullotta, Gravano, Franzese etc, is how they actually survived.
A hell of a way to live. Your whole life looking over your shoulder.
I like these TV shows, but in reality ALL of them are really just well produced, well written, violent soap operas.
Both Godfathers are masterpieces...I can watch them multiple times and never get bored.
Sammy “The Bull” Gravano has his own YouTube Channel, it’s basically him telling stories mostly about things he was involved in, including murders.....
IIRC there was only one mob boss who never went to prison and died from natural causes. That was Accardo of the Chicago “outfit.”
I watched all the episodes over the past few months, after just watching YT clips for years.
It really was a great show.
Pretty clear what happened. Like David Chase said, "It's all there."
You haven’t seen ‘The Sopranos’ until you’ve seen the ‘MadTV’ parody episodes. Will Sasso is absolutely hysterical as James Gandolfini.
Gandolfini’s kid looks just like him.
I was thinking the same thing, even has some of the same mannerisms..
As far as mafia movies are concerned it’s all about the big three (GF, GF2, Goodfellas), with the Sopranos being the television counterpart. Not a big fan of other films/tv shows about la cosa nostra. Did like “Once Upon a Time in America” (full version), but that was about “La Kosher Nostra.”
